The Down Under Lounge

Lest we forget. Attended the dawn ceremony in Altona this morning. Now on the train, as I head into the city. Want to see Thanos artwork in the city, before I see the new movie.

So it seems that Aus Netflix no longer has Doctor Who.

Does anyone know a reliable way to see what is going to disappear from Aus netflix and when? I google but what comes up seems patchy.

When did yours disappear? I just looked in my netflix and it is still there.

Okay so I do have it. I was at someone else's house and no amount of searching turned it up. This is weird.

But still wondering, anyone use a site that tells you what's disappearing on the au version?

What do people think of the government now wanting the Australian Signals Directorate to have access to our phone calls and emails?

Is there anyone else they want to allow to look at this stuff? Of course the reasons are "think of the children and terrorism" and Dutton was ummning and aaahing his way to explain this stuff.

Are not the current laws we have good enough? Don't we already have data retention laws?

Julia Banks MP won’t explain how she would live on $40 a day. She stated she could but is deleting questions on Facebook about how she would do it.

Well of course they would do that.... Deleting comments just shows pure contempt for people.

Also what do you guys make of the royal commission into banking?

So much bad stuff that the banks and AMP are doing.

I'm with the CommBank - haven't really thought much about it. Been with them for around 40 years. I got an email from them. Got no plans in changing at the moment. I am very careful with controlling my personal details. I might look into some changes over the weekend with my account and security.

Live sheep export.

"Opposition agriculture spokesman Joel Fitzgibbon says he expects a review of live sheep exports to recommend banning the practice in the lucrative Middle Eastern summer months, as Labor policy inches towards favouring a phase out of the industry."

I would so vote Labour for this one issue alone.

Some people have suggested that Julia Banks mis-spoke and she actually meant to could survive on $40 a hour. I imagine even that would be a hardship for her.

Oh the shame of that...... Oh the shame. /s

What do you think of the ramped up surveillance ideas posted above I'll find a link about it.

OK this is how the story came out. Via a leak.

Of course they deny it.

I petsonally don’t care if they spy on me so long as it means they have less time to spy on some other Australians. My emails would probably bore any person to death.

I think that they should set the bar very high when it come to spying online, the same standard as tapping a phone. They should have to prove to a judge that there is probable cause that there is a serious crime involved.

I agree with that but my counter to all this is this. Are not existing laws good enough? Oh and why do politicians always throw in "think of the children" to justify things?

I think existing laws should be enough unless there needs to be a change in wording to include new technology not mentioned in existing laws.
