That's my view as well. Luke had the same reaction as he was trained to in the face of evil, and is presented by the Jedi across various media, including by Obi-Wan (Luke's initial teacher), by Yoda (Luke's other teacher), by Qui-Gon (Luke's grandteacher*), among others. Is it controversial to say Luke's reaction to sensing evil in Ben is completely fine?
The fact he chose not the strike is the important part. Just like he chose not to strike at Vader in ROTJ.
I completely agree. He simply panicked when he first sensed it, but then got himself under control. I think in a situation like that, that moment of panic is completely understandable. Is it controversial to say Luke's reaction to sensing evil in Ben is completely fine?

Yeah, if Kylo hand't woken up, he probably would never had known Luke was there.I completely agree. He simply panicked when he first sensed it, but then got himself under control. I think in a situation like that, that moment of panic is completely understandable.
It feels condescending to suggest the audience forgot that Kylo Ren killed Han Solo in the last movie, (seemingly) killed Princess Leia in this movie, plus all the other characters he tortured and murdered, but given all the complaints about Luke doing something he did in every movie before this one, maybe they needed to make his horror at what was to come a little more visceral.
^ This just makes their decision look more correct.
Yes. Stop buying things you think are substandard. Stop talking about them. Buy what you think is quality. Promote that.^This is why the trend of quality is in a tailspin.
Disney: “Here’s a polished turd plated in 24K gold!”
Public: “I want all of them! ZOMG!!”
It was canon before it wasn't. That was the whole point of decanonizing it.Never was canon
Oh, please. No it wasn't. Lucas discarded it as nothing that was from him. Just people playing in the sandbox he made. Luke doesn't get married, etc.It was canon before it wasn't. That was the whole point of decanonizing it.
They said it was.Oh, please. No it wasn't.
Lucas said it wasn't.They said it was.
I don't think he even used the word. It's just that his comments were interpreted that way. Meanwhile, Lucasfilm's employees said otherwise.Lucas said it wasn't.
The implication was there, and was reiterated in several articles in Star Wars Insider, not just internet randos.I don't think he even used the word. It's just that his comments were interpreted that way. Meanwhile, Lucasfilm's employees said otherwise.
No, "we" don't know that. I didn't read it because fans made it insufferable. As we all know some of it was terrible.
You really dodged a bullet on that one.No, "we" don't know that. I didn't read it because fans made it insufferable.
Apparently not because now, after Ahsoka and the ST and all of that, there is the demand for the EU to be restored. Reminds of me of the demand for Disney to buy LFL and erase the PT from the canon. You really dodged a bullet on that one.
