If only there was a term for something that came before.

Oh, I know...a prequel.

Well, Star wars is bad at those.

There's not a goddamn thing in the red circle to back up the claim that Andor is supposed to "tie the original films to together". That's an oopsie, alright. It just says that the events of Andor take place before the original trilogy, which everyone already knows.

Maybe you should just actually watch the show. :techman:

I literally don't care about any of that because it's been beat into the ground. The Rebellion, the Empire, the Jedi, the Bounty Hunters. Don't care. Don't care about the war or any of it.

I want to see more of the background brought forward because that is where the seeds of plot start. Stop beating the dead horse of Luke this and Luke that. Don't care. Fire him and retire the character as he rode off into the sunset, never to be heard from again. Bye, felicia. Don't come back. Why is it every time a Skywalker is involved, the galaxy is invariably imperiled? Take his tired ass back to Tatooine to die already so the rest of the galaxy can get on.

That's how it started.

All the more reason to retire him along with everything else I mentioned. Time to find new subject matter in the universe. And furthermore, it's really all a moot point since I won't touch anything with Disney's fingerprints to begin with, and since they're not doing Legends stories anymore that's effectively the end of Star Wars that I'm interested in.

Cool.

So, bye then.

This started with you attacking my controversial opinion, and now, suddenly, I can't post in here or something because I think Disney is shit and I'm tired of seeing them use Star Wars as a vehicle to push subversive bullshit?

Lmfao

Bad form.

You literally said you were no longer interested in Star Wars...

and since they're not doing Legends stories anymore that's effectively the end of Star Wars that I'm interested in.

So, why stick around and discuss something you're not interested in? Just reinforces the idea that Star Wars fans generally prefer to be angry than actually any semblance of enjoyment in their supposed favorite franchise.

Here's my controversial opinion: no output from Disney will ever change my interest in Star Wars because Star Wars for me is only the OT-the end. The rest is just fluff pieces. Sometimes fun, and mostly ignored.

No, I said that is where my interest in Star Wars ends. There is a difference. I still do my own thing, but I do not engage any of the rest of it because everything produced by Disney turns to shit.

So why are we talking about shit?

Why not talk about actual interesting things with Star Wars?

You know what I want? I want a story about a guy working a bar in the depths of the city planet Denon, and all his interactions with the different characters who are regulars. No Jedi bullshit. No galaxy spanning bullshit. I want to see this character tinker on a starfighter, build his bar up, and all the assholes and gangsters he had to go through to get it, including the Black Sun vigos.

That would be a hell of a lot more intriguing to me than some bullshit story about yet another bounty hunter with aspirations of glory.

Then go write it maybe? Pitch it and see if it is interesting enough to someone to greenlight it, or take it as a short story idea for something?

If The Return Of The Jedi was released today it would be slated left, right and centre. Online trolls would probably complain about too much Lando and object to Nien Nunb speaking in an actual African language.

Thinking about it, after the outcry seeing Lando pilot the Falcon at the end of the last movie, Williams would more than likely have been replaced for this one.

It's hard to believe but the world's become a nastier and less open and tolerant place since 1983.

Or are you really going to tell me Kylo Ren is somehow an equal replacement of Thrawn?
That's comparing apples and aircraft carriers.

Where's the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium?
In canon oblivion where it belongs.

Are you kidding? People slated it back then too. And Empire, and ANH. Nothing changes.

Speaking of Nien Nunb, his scenes in ROTJ in the Falcon cockpit are brilliantly executed. His interchange with Lando as they approach the Death Star while sensors are jammed enhances the segment substantially. The puppet work is amazing.

I was wondering, are there any authentic translations from the Kenyan languages of Bill Kipsang Rotich's lines?

Don’t give them an easy pass. Disney FAFO’d and now they’re finding out with their string of multimillion dollar disasters. It’s well-deserved and I’m enjoying every shriek and cry as staffer after staffer is fired. Suffer and go bankrupt.

They killed the EU to allegedly get rid of the nonsense and shenanigans only to turn around and give us…more shenanigans? :wtf:

*slow clap*

Bravo. You effing morons. “We’re gonna retcon to ensure more consistency going forward.” Uh huh. How’s that working out for you? You killed Thrawn and gave us the cardboard cutout version in Kylo Ren instead? The entire franchise post Rogue I is a mess and not worthy of fandom. You don’t get rid of George Patton to replace him with Ronald McDonald, and that’s exactly what they did.

Now, maybe they’ve done something worthy of consideration in the newer movies and tv series. I don’t know. Don’t care because I’ll never watch them. I will never watch them because by destroying the EU and all the background canon, they have reduced its depth and rendered it a shallow mud puddle, and now, when I watch the ads for them, I am stuck with the thought of what could have been getting in the way of enjoying the franchise.

Also, fire anyone who seriously ever again suggests making armor pink.
There's no pink armour in Star Wars.

That is where the loss of the EU stings. That is why it is worth fighting over. Star Trek has no analogues as far as I know. I like hearing about illegal Carbanti Stutter-Matrices and souped-up Girodyne SRB42 sublight engines that use a Quadex power core. That adds depth when referred back to periodically.
The new canon still has all that nuisance.

Most of the fictional corporations and technology names invented for the EU still exist.
X-Wings are still made by Incom and are still propelled by four 4L4 fusial thrust engines

The Force Awakens refers to the Millennium falcon as a YT-Series freighter in dialogue, and the Han Solo movie outright calls it a YT-1300. Both things from the EU.

The Mandalorian Season 1 referred to the E-Web Blaster by its full name of "E-Web heavy repeating blaster", which again that's something from the EU not the movies.

A YT-2400 showed up in Star Wars Rebels. Though I can't remember if they used the name in dialogue, it's still called that in the books.
