ANH doesn't say the plans were beamed to the ship. It's heavily implied but that's not what the dialogue actually says. "You weren't on any mercy mission this time" goes with "several transmissions were beamed to this ship by rebel spies" and that's how Vader knows this particular blockade runner is working with the rebellion. They had to track them down somehow. "I want to know what happened to the plans they sent you" can be a separate statement.
Vader says it, but he's not omniscient.
No, he says transmissions were beamed to the ship, and then says they were sent plans. Those 2 statements don't have to be the same event. we have a tiny bit of wiggle room to reinterpret.
Well there we go, that's an easy enough way to keep A New Hope and Rogue One completely (or at least completelyish) consistent.
I never noticed that about the Ghost, that is interesting.
Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for him next time I watch it.He's on the left side of the scene where the comms officer runs out to tell Mon Mothma about the attack on Scarif. If you listen carefully you can also hear some of his vocalizations in the background audio
Also interesting tidbit, if you look closely at the Ghost, it's missing the Phantom/II in it's docking slot.
I don't believe it's ever been confirmed why.
I've speculated they didn't want to spoil the existence of the Phantom II, or they hadn't decided on what design it would be when they gave the Ghost model over to ILM to up detail.
The episode where they acquire the Phantom II aired 2 months before the movie released.
