But dude i totally get that. I came close to having a long distance relationship. Twice. Didn't work out either time.

I've been holding out all this time, but over the holidays many friends and relatives have been on me to join. Still, I wasn't quite convinced I couldn't live without it ... until now.

I know. That's why I've steered clear thus far. I've seen its siren-like effects on my friends and colleagues, drawing them in until the next thing you know they're plodding through life, bleary eyed, zombified FaceBook addicts, looking for their next friend request, wall posting, game or *gasp* SURVEY!!!
Dare I take the plunge?
^ Sure. Why not. I did two years ago and don't regret it. However, I try very hard to keep my FB limited to keeping up with friends, family and events. The rest I don't care about. (I did let myself get sucked into Farm Town though.)
I have also reconnected with people I have lost touch with over the years. FB has been really rewarding in that respect.
