On the other hand, you don't also feature Sabine in the series and not immediately address Ezra. As well as the name drop of Thrawn in her first appearance of The Mandalorian.

It's possible. I mean both Ahsoka and Sabine already know what the goal is, so it's not like they ever need to discuss it. It's possible that the audience will just assume they're after Thrawn because: "Imperial Admiral = baddie!" and they'll save the Ezra part until the very end (if at all.)

I guess it depends of the tone Dave is going for, but my gut says it'll probably open with a recreation of the shot/sketch of Plo discovering her as an infant, if not the whole Latrans story in it's entirety.

I'm hoping some moments mentioned or happening in the novel to be featured in flashbacks, even if briefly.

* If not Hedala personally, some Force-sensitive youngsters hunted by the Empire who Ahsoka has come to protect, as she did in the novel, Rebels and Clone Wars, which may even serve as a minor link with the Obi-Wan show given that it already is with the Fifth Brother.
* Fulcrum recruiting Hera (not really mentioned anywhere, just my first thought when she told Bail she wouldn't recruit people and wanted to run his intelligence network instead).
* I guess Kaeden would be too much fan service and/or small universe syndrome depending on when, but... Given that Ahsoka has not had a personal life in none of the series, I would appreciate something of that nature.

Yup.

The problem with a lot of this stuff is that it doesn't really add up to a coherent story that's relevant to the here and now (i.e. 5+ years post RotJ). It'd be like expecting the Kenobi show to cover the whole Satine backstory, training Jake Lloyd/Anakin, and reuniting with Cody.
These may be cool things to see, but if they don't serve the plot and the character arc then it's all rather extraneous.

So if all this show is about is the hunt for Ezra, then Ahsoka's time as Fulcrum isn't going to be all that relevant. On the other hand, if the focus is more about her internal transformative journey then we may indeed see some glimpses of familiar events along the way. But honestly after Book of Boba Fett, I'm not expecting them to lean too much into flashbacks.
After all, this is the first chance most of the audience is going to get to really get to know her, so it shouldn't be a live action clipshow for the various animated series and tie-in media.

I honestly don't see that happening. Remember that at this point, that incident is going on 30 years ago, and she only seemed to know those people for a few weeks or months at most. Their main function was to embody the helpless victims of the Empire that Ahsoka felt she could no longer ignore. Pretty sure that once she became Fulcrum she left those people behind.

Indeed one of the things spymasters and Jedi have in common is a decided lack of personal attachments and an almost total commitment to the job, so I'd be willing to bet that in those years she really didn't develop any close personal friendships. Personally I'd be curious to know how she found and recruited Hera, but again, not terribly relevant here.

One thing that might come up is the idea (that's been very vaguely implied) that all that time she was running Bail's intelligence network, she was also very quietly (perhaps even unbeknownst to Bail) running an underground railroad for force sensitive children; keeping them away from the Inquisitorious as much as possible.

The green ears did seem like an odd choice. I would have just given him a small set of lekku, mottled green & human skin tones, and Kanan's nose.

We knew speculated knew we were picking up where we left off, so it ought to show how it started.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo officially confirmed to be cast as Sabine.

I get the impression that he just writes/sketches stories that interest him and just hopes he'll get to tell them in some medium at some point down the line, without any solid plans either way. Speaking as someone that has an artistic streak, this is just how creative minds operate. Every writer worth the name has piles of unpublished, and/or half written stories, outlines, etc, every artist has stacks of similarly rough or half finished sketches. When you have an idea in your head, there's a compulsion to get it out of your head and express it in some way or another. Dave is both an artist and a writer, so I'm sure he has TONS of stories in various states conception, both prose and visual.

Indeed we know he's had Ahsoka's finding/kidnapping story in mind for years, as well as a supposedly worked out story for the Sith Lord that built the Malacore temple/battlestation (and who's voice we heard in the holocron), and he's intimated over the years that he has a story in mind for Barris post CW (post season 5, anyway.) Plus of course we know he was batting around the idea of the Vader/Ahsoka showdown for years before Rebels was even a thing.

ETA: I've seen some photo's of the practical Chopper they brought out on stage, and as suspected, it's clearly a new, MUCH more sophisticated build than the one used on Rebels Recon & Rogue One.

So since the official announcement of Bordizzo's casting, I've seen a surprisingly large number of complaints (in various places) about how she's just another 'check-box agenda' casting. Like, how does anyone look at Sabine and not immediacy get that she's supposed to be Asian, unless they're so bigoted that they just automatically assume all lightish-skinned cartoons must be white people?

This is getting so fucking tiresome.

But even beyond that, Bordizzo looks exactly like her. Like, exactly.
