The Ahsoka series is coming.

Could Ray Stevens conceivably be Joruus C'baoth (or some equivalent) in a soft reboot of the Heir to the Empire Trilogy? It's widely regarded as the best of the EU (that it happened to be the first of it as well is irrelevant). It was a major deal in Rebels to re-introduce Thrawn in the first place- is Filoni going to manage to recanonize at least some of the best of the Legends material?

One could only hope for the resurgence and re-canonization of Talon Kaarde and Mara Jade as well...

Anyway, that trailer was the bomb. I enjoyed Rebels despite it obviously being aimed at a younger audience- more than just about anything else SW other than some of the DF/JK video game material, the show really seemed to capture the 'essence' of SW and the OT for me. Seeing glimpses of Lothal in live action, swinging lightsabers (something that has been in short supply in recent productions, especially if you discount the disastrous ST), as well as the old Rebels characters... I am psyched for this. Now that my appetite has been whetted by the trailer, it's going to be a long wait until August.

I also mention in passing that I have a years-long crush on Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and seeing her as Hera is also something I am looking very forward to,

The inquisitor that Ahsoka is fighting has a helmet similar to the Eighth Brother's.

Last we saw him, he was apprently falling to his death on Malachor. But we never saw a body

Ahsoka panel tomorrow, I wonder what new stuff we'll learn.

It is David voicing.
That was 100% his voice.
Is there a source for that? I've only seen it on Wikipedia without a source. I know it sounds like him but I/we/maybe just me have been fooled before. I'm not doubting you guys, I just want a solid confirmation.

Jedi and the force has always been a blindspot for Thrawn. It's something he doesn't quite understand and so struggles to plan for. So it would make sense that rather than ignore a proven strategic weakness, he'd seek out some way to counter it. Of course we don't even know that these guys have anything to do with him, but a major plot point for 'Heir to the Empire' did involve him recruiting an extremist force user type, so there's good precedent.
Thank you for that background information. I haven't read Heir to the Empire (only Star Wars book I've read is Ahsoka) but maybe I really should now, just to see the seeds of it in this show (or so I hope for fans of the book).

The Inquisitors basically disappear from the show after season 2. All of the ones introduced were killed off and no new ones showed up. The implication from what Filloni has said is that he needed them all off the board by the time ANH happens, so it's reasonable to assume that they're basically all dead . . . except for maybe this last one and a few other stragglers.
Thank you for the refresher. I was fairly certain that was the case but I couldn't be 100%, particularly the guy who showed up at Malachor.

I guess it didn't register as notable since Tookas have already shown up in live action a few times.
What I did note though is that this appears to be Sabine's pet lothcat, and true to form, she's drawn little doodles of it all over her walls (along with a familiar looking wolf head.)
Heh, that's fair. I had forgotten we've seen them before...but this time maybe actually on Lothal so it hit harder this time.

See, that was my way of thinking with him in particular.

Hopefully at least casting confirmation of Lars Mikkelsen!

No, I won't stop.

I wondered that for a moment, but I doubt it. C'baoth never used a lighstaber, at least in that trilogy, and had a classic wizard's white beard, IIRC. So, while it's not impossible, it's unlikely.

Thank you. Missed it with all the new posts when I dared to be out for the evening.
I'm going to try and keep the Celebration thread up to date, so if there's any major trailer drops etc., I'll post them there in the OP along with the livestreams. That way people don't have to go digging through pages of discussions to see what they missed. So if you think you're out of the loop, just check in there and you should be fine.

So far as I'm aware there's been no explicit announcement that's he's in it . . . but that's literally a character he's voiced before, and It's pretty hard to mistake that voice. So I'd call that a 99.999999999% certainy.

For what it's worth, there was going to be an additional shot of Eighth Brother crawling away from the temple, only for him to get turned to stone when the whole thing goes off, but they cut it. So he *may* have survived, but I doubt it. For one thing, Ahsoka would have been right there too in the aftermath, while he likely had two broken legs. I doubt he would have even made it to his TIE (and that's assuming Maul didn't sabotage the other two when he nicked one.)

On a similar note, Ninth Sister seeming falls from a high place and dies in Fallen Order . . . but you don't see a body, so she could have survived . . . in the Kinrath infested shadowlands, where a million things would make quick work of an injured Dowutin.

Reva is also technically unaccounted for, but if she's still alive at this point, I really wouldn't count her as an Inquisitor anymore.

As you say, he has a wildly different look so I doubt this is meant to be just straight up canon cloned C'baoth, but it may be a new original character filling a very similar role, with perhaps some very deliberate nods.

So, rumour is it's broken in 2? First half before Mando? So, the orange blades could be in part 1 not associated with Thrawn ??

This article asserts that is indeed David Tennant providing the voice.

Yeah, but it feels like Slashfilm is just making assumptions since they didn't provide a source.

I know I'm being anal and maybe even a bit persnickety about this, but at the same time, you'd think there would been a big announcement about David Tennant appearing in this show. Not for our sakes, but for the Doctor Who and Broadchurch and Good Omens and Jessica Jones so on fans who may not have already planned to watch this corner of the Star Wars universe.

That's the rumor. I don't think anything concrete has been announced. Yet. I'm sure we'll get more details tomorrow.

Yeah, a bunch of entertainment press are running with it, but so far as I can tell they're not quoting sources, just going on the same powers of observation as everyone else.

It's entirely possible he's in like two scenes in the whole show, so they didn't want to make a massive deal about it. Also, they could just be relying on the fans to generate awareness though discussion . . . which we kind of are.

Fair points. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm sure they'll say something during the panel tomorrow.

A possibility just occurred to me about Baylan and his little blonde sidekick: what if it's a Shaak Ti & Maris Brood type situation? I mean the show is about Ahsoka, so why not make the main antagonists a 'what could have been' reflection of her own story? What if Baylan is another Jedi that left the order during the Clone Wars, but between all the combat PTSD and being constantly on the run from Inquisitors has since fallen to the dark side? Though I suppose if the girl is his padawan (and/or daughter?), that would make them more of a reflection of Kanan & Ezra than Ahsoka, but still . . . could also be some potential echos there of the "what if Ahsoka had stayed with Anakin" persuasion.

ETA: Noticed the sidekick is wearing a Jedi issue headset in her fighter (exactly the same design as Anakin & Obi-Wans' in RotS.) I think I might be onto something here.

A reasonable assumption.

Do we know for a fact Luke won’t be a part of this? Just because we don’t see him in a trailer?
He might be. If this is set before Mando we could finally get the introduction of him to her in this.
