Not a "pain" as you phrase it. I just don't wish to raise false expectations that it'll be ready in the next 10 minutes or so.

OK, $16.5K for a figure is bad enough, and I can't imagine any toy really being worth that, no matter how rare.

But that aside... $400 for shipping?!? For that price, I would expect Dr. Reinhardt to fly in on the Cygnus and deliver it personally!

"Young folks in [my] life"?? I want one of those bears for me! :adore::lol:

With respect, you're around 10 years late with that one. I oughta' know because I purchased one. The initial release was fraught with an arguably major problem. The neutral expression head revealed a very noticeable "5 o'clock shadow", something makeup artists(of that era) tried to make sure did not appear on camera unless the character was meant to be disheveled. ("Scruffy" was not fashionable in the 70s.) Also, something about the molding process made the head pop free a bit too narrow. Those two aspects severely detracted from Tom's likeness. As "damage control", Big Chief released a separate head featuring Tom's infamous sh*t eatin' grin. This replacement proved far more accurate, no "5 o'clock shadow" and it possessed the proper width. It was not free, but the cost was modest.

In theory, one could have purchased the head by itself, get an inexpensive 1/6th scale jointed doll like an Action Man or GI Joe and either make or purchase doll clothes matching one of Tom's variant wardrobes for a fraction of Big Chief's price.

Several fans were also disappointed by the included scarf. It did have a wire core for unique posing, but it just didn't match any of the designs Tom wore in the show. A talented fan posting upon one of the bigger dedicated DW forum sites created her own version and sold them. I bought that along with the alternated head to depict a far more accurate 4th Doctor.

Finally,Big Chief filed for bankruptcy. It is no longer "trading product".
