(I REFUSE to call him "Sheev," that's another EU name I hate)
George Lucas came up with the name for his unreleased Underworld TV series. So yes, while it was first used in the new canon, it wasn't created for it.

If you watch the Mandalorian you'll see Krayt Dragon.
Sidious as a name never struck me as very interesting. Palpatine was lwas just "the Emperor" so adding on his Sith name just was odd.
Yes, but Sidious was a choice that always struck me as odd.Well, he wasn't going the Emperor in 95% of the PT, so they had to call him something!
More odd than "Vader"? Or "Jabba"?, "Greedo"?, "Chewbacca"? "Wampa"? "Yoda"? Or a thousand other made up words that border on homophone and onomatopoeia? I don't see it as any massive departure, honestly.Yes, but Sidious was a choice that always struck me as odd.
Just one of those things for me.More odd than "Vader"? Or "Jabba"?, "Greedo"?, "Chewbacca"? "Wampa"? "Yoda"? Or a thousand other made up words that border on homophone and onomatopoeia? I don't see it as any massive departure, honestly.

I watched the rom-com Sleeping with Other People for the second time the other day, and, as I thought the first time around, it's a stone-cold masterpiece. I just realized writer/director Leslye Headland is the person running this show, and now I'm far more intrigued than before.
