The 82nd Annual Academy Awards - discussion thread

Colin Firth has been sadly underused throughout his career (Pride and Prejudice and Bridget Jones aside). Hopefully, his Oscar nomination will bring him more and more good stuff.

There was a story about him on Australian 60 minutes last night. Quite interesting to find more about him

And The Dude wins!!! :D

Avatar was more of a crowd-pleaser and had the best FX ever but District 9 had a better story and a better movie.

I was quite impressed with how they blended the FX into the real world in D9, especially for the budget.

Agreed.

That FX looked like it cost a lot more than the $30 million dollar budget. The scenary was great.

pretty much the only reason Im watching this year was to root for D9. Knew it wont win anything but whatever. I liked seeing Sharlto in the audience. I think he deserved a nom. There should be a "breakout" performance category.

oh look Jeff won...

Jeff Bridges...long overdue.

The man is a bit of an oddball.

I have to admit, I almost burst out laughing when he yelled at that scientist in Iron Man. He was chewing scenary like crazy in that one.

So will the next Tron Legacy commercials say "Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges... Tron Legacy!"
