I'm starting to think the second half of Discovery is a mirror of the first half.

    Season One and Season Five
    Season 1:
The Spore Drive program is in development and it's highly experimental.
Season 5: The Spore Drive program is shuttered, they know what it can do, but it's difficult to duplicate.

Season 1: Captain Lorca gives Burnham a second chance.
Season 5: Captain Burnham gives Rayner a second chance.

Season 1: At first the crew doesn't like Burnham but they warm up to her.
Season 5: At first the crew doesn't like Rayner but they warm up to him.

Season 1: Tilly is a Cadet at the Academy, on assignment to Discovery.
Season 5: Tilly is an Instructor at the Academy, on temporary assignment to Discovery.

Season 1: The Federation is at war.
Season 5: The Federation is at peace.

    Season Two and Season Four
    Season 2:
The Red Angel gives clues which aids Discovery along the way to find and destroy Control.
Season 4: The DMA gives Discovery clues for how to find and communicate peace with Species 10-C.

Season 2: Saru reconnects with Kaminar, which he's been away from for 20 years.
Season 4: Saru sits on the council on Kaminar, before leaving again for Discovery.

Season 2: Tilly is on the Command Training Program.
Season 4: Tilly realizes that she doesn't want Command.

Season 2: Discovery is key to saving the galaxy, and the entire mission is classified. Discovery is forgotten.
Season 4: Discovery is key to saving the galaxy, and the entire mission is public. Discovery is celebrated.

Beginning of Season 3 and End of Season 3
    Beginning:
Burnham and Book are by themselves, technically not in a relationship, and scraping by on crazy missions.
End: Burnham and Book are on Discovery, are in a relationship, and Burnham is Captain of Discovery.

Beginning: The Federation is completely disconnected from its member worlds and Starfleet locations with limited subpsace.
End: Discovery is now on a mission to help reconnect the Federation and have member worlds rejoin. Starfleet has better access to dilithium and can rebuild infastructure.

Beginning: The Emerald Chain looks like the place to be, and this seems like a Key Player in the 32nd Century.
End: Osyraa dies and the Emerald Chain falls.

Beginning: Sahil is technically not a Starfleet Officer.
End: Sahil is not only a Starfleet Officer, but a Lieutenant.

"Forget Me Not" is the 33rd Episode of Discovery and the Exact Middle of the series. This is when Discovery journeys to Trill and is able to figure out where to find where Starfleet Command has been relocated, so they can reintergrate into the fleet for the second half of the series.
