The first one only. Other than a meaningless Miles and Danny Dyson cameo played by different actors I can think of no real connection to T2. Those events never happen. T1000 also a different actor....except the first two movies, that is.![]()
The events may be overwritten, but Genisys is still clearly a sequel that expects you to know T2 as well. The Dysons, the T1000 as a known quantity, the "No Fate" quotation, the name "Judgment Day" and the date it happens all come from T2.The first one only. Other than a meaningless Miles and Danny Dyson cameo played by different actors I can think of no real connection to T2. Those events never happen. T1000 also a different actor.
It's the true sequel for being the best in quality. Heady,Glau,Manson and Dillahant were the best characters and use of characters since T2. JasonSo for me, it was
Temrinator 2
Terminator 1
Dark Fate -- It did a great job giving Sarah a logical arc, and shifting the future in ways, now looking back, make some sense. Also interesting how Arnold's Terminator did NOT need human reprogramming
Genesys - i thought it was inline with other reboots, like Star Trek. I thought Emilia Clarke made a great Sarah Connor, given the re-written history. Lots of problems, like Jai Courtney and what they did to John..but overall seemed to move things for a new generation.
I guess Rise of the Machine only second to last because they had some good call backs, especially Earl Boen's gues appearance, and set up the war with the machines.
Terminator Salvation i had last because it just felt overblown but not going anywhere... John COnnor getting a heart transplat seems dumb...i would actually prefer that he had John's face transplanted... could've been them studying how Terminators were made...also could easily explain the scars that JOhn had in the original movie. WOuld've been more logical. Did they even have John holding his mom's photo? That would've been nice for Sam's character to to have learned about.... oh, and no mention of John's girlfriend in T3?
By the way, where does Sarah Connor Chronicles fit into this?
It's a sequel to T1 and T2, and has no connection to the other film sequels.
They are trying to hard to be diverse and it is glaringly obvious. It’s pandering and it’s not working. This terminator film is tracking worse then genysis(which really stunk) and it’s on more screens.
There's no direct references or storylines carried over from the other films, but there are some "inspired by" elements, especially in the technological progression of the Terminators.Ah...similar to the way the latest Halloween film disregarded every sequel ever produced, only acknowledging the original. Its the best move, even when he producers knew they might anger fans of those Terminator sequels...sure, there's only a handful of them, but still....
Really? I've heard more good or at least positive reviews for Dark Fate than for Genisys. One of the film's current selling points seems to be that it's either the best of all the post-T2 sequels or even AS good as one of the two originals. Its box office performance notwithstanding I've yet to hear it's as bad as Genisys.
You do realize that T2 had a female hero, a child as the future hope of mankind, a black computer scientist who helped create Skynet in the first place and featured Mexican characters, right? If Dark Fate is pandering in 2019 then T2 wasn't exactly all white bread and milk back in 1991.
Yes, I noticed all those too. Even though Cameron had no involvement in those movies there is conceptual ideas from the sequels. It definitely adds an layer of subtext for the hardcore fans. There's no direct references or storylines carried over from the other films, but there are some "inspired by" elements, especially in the technological progression of the Terminators.
The Rev-9 Terminator combines the shapeshifting abilities of the T-1000 from T2 (and the T-X and John Connor bot), the separate mimetic "skin" over endoskeleton of the T-X, and the nanites instead of liquid metal of the John Connor bot from GeniSys.
Grace was born a human like Marcus Wright in Salvation, but has been cybernetically augmented to compete in a world of Terminators, with enhanced senses and targeting systems, endoskeletal armor and muscular upgrades for strength and resiliency, etc.
So even though the timelines are erased or shunted into alternate universes, similar technological progress still occurs as Judgment Day and the war gets pushed further and further into the future.

But they also had a male hero in Reese. Well if you need more proof here it is. The franchise is officially done with this movie. It's the worst performing in the entire franchise.

Again, wrong.Hollywood is pandering and it smacks of racism
Again, wrong.
I love that you're whining about not wanting movies to have any kind of political message, no matter how minor, like that's somehow a new thing, and yet you're so comfortably ensconced in your safe space that you can't even manage to get entertainment news from a non-conservative site that doesn't reinforce the little bubble you live in. Do you need permission from the party leadership before deciding if it's okay to watch Mr. Robot, or is that too anti-corporate? Do they decide what breakfast cereal you eat in the morning? Is Tony the Tiger secretly part of the gay agenda, so Frosted Flakes are out? I have my suspicions with him still wearing an ascot in 2019. It must be exhausting not being able to live your life without seeing whether something is on the approved list or not first. But they also had a male hero in Reese. That has nothing to do with what I said and quoted.Well it looks like the audience disagrees. The franchise has just died with this movie. I hope they didn't plan on a sequel. Lol!

I'm curious. Do you like anything that doesn't have a female hero? Like TOS or Die Hard etc.. JasonBut they also had a male hero in Reese. Well if you need more proof here it is. The franchise is officially done with this movie. It's the worst performing in the entire franchise.

Point of order, Reese wasn't in T2.
Actually, he was, but his scene was cut.
