Terminator VI

I think they are killing him off. I do wonder if Sarah will still have cancer. That happened in the 3rd movie and the show. well sort of in the show. That seems like something that will happen in any timeline.

Jason
So Judgment Day can be stopped, but Sarah's leukemia can't be? Harsh.

I don't understand any of that.

In Genisys, we never find out the full story behind Alex (the T-5000), but it seems (based on his line about "I've come a long way to stop you") that Alex comes from an alternate universe/timeline, and is rampaging his way across the multiverse trying to ensure Skynet's dominance in every timeline he can reach.

I don't know what "T-Smith-8000" means, though.

I just thought he was Skynet. That was the only thing I liked about the movie was the idea of Skynet itself after them. Maybe there is a way to talk to Skynet, one to one about avoiding the war altogether

^ I never thought Alex could have been indigenous to THAT timeline (the one in the film), because he would be literally unstoppable. There could be no defense against a Skynet which could infect anyone with nanobots and turn them into Terminators.

Alex could have been the physical embodiment of Skynet in his own timeline - just not this one. If Skynet had always had that ability, the war would never have dragged on as long as it did.

It seemed to me that after all the failed attempts, Skynet said “I’ll do it myself” and went back to stop it.
But you’re probably right with him either being from a alternative timeline or in the distant future.

Actually Judgment Day doesn't get stopped it just gets being pushed more into the future. Sarah has died of cancer in all 3 timelines. Cameron movies,T3 and the show. It really would make one begin to think of this in realigious terms and maybe these things are just destined to happen because of a God and they will never be stopped.

It got stopped in Genisys.

Sarah never has cancer in the Cameron movies. Just T3 and SCC...and that turned out to not happen after all anyway. They "skipped over it" somehow.

So T3 is the only one where Sarah actually dies of cancer.

Well, they skipped over when she would've died, date-wise, but it was still possible she'd develop cancer when she reached that age. They played with her dread of that sometimes. I remember one episode where she was exposed to radiation and wondered if she was going to have done something like that in the earlier timeline, and that's where she got the cancer.

I am. Loving old Arnie too  :mallory:

True, good distinction.

They played with it more than once (she also found a lump at one stage but it turned out to be a tracker implant or some shit), but the show ended with Sarah sans cancer, which was my main point. :)

1. Removing the Terminator's broken power cell, or just hanging out with it, in general, maybe by design they give everyone nearby a fuck ton of cancer, or after it started collecting ongoing battle damage, it carcenagated Sarah.

2. T.V. Sarah went to a doctor after her time jump. She was cancer free.

2a. TV Sarah originally got cancer from a single event that happened after the time jump. So she dodged it.

2b. Sarah never had cancer. It was a trick to hide from Skynet.

2c. Time travel cures cancer.

3. The producers said in print, that was poorly explained in the movie, and therefore noncanonical, that Matt Smith's Skynet is from an alternate future and has figured out how to slide sideways between timelines, as well as backwars and forwards into the past and future... And that Matt Smith's Skynet was playing a deeper game that wouldn't be revealed till the third movie.

Around the time of the movie, the film makers said something vaguely handwavey that Matt Smith was a T-8000 that was a "meta-sentient" version of Skynet. I guess that's when they thought 6 was going to be a closer tie-in to Genysis. This movie is making it's own changes so for all we know John is fine and still human in this one. His mother being alive well past 2003 implies something weird is happening...again.

It's a shame that Sarah will almost certainly die in this movie (I'm putting it at 98%) but I hope we at least get a good send off for her and not a lame whimper. Terminator sequels are so hard to take, fingers always crossed for the best, being let down over and over again...still getting back up for the next one with high hopes but deep down knowing it probably won't be great....

Don't worry, she's been dead before and she got better. If this movie actually does what no other post T2 does, she will be ok.

Should we even call it T3 anymore, since this new film will be a direct sequel to Terminator 2 ala T2 and wiping that movie out forever*, how about calling it "Rise of the Machines" or ROTM?

*That movie did a lot of damage to John Connor and hated the ending which hurt Cameron's brilliant film. It's as bad as Alien 3 where Fincher killed all of the great characters from Aliens. Ugh!

I miss the Sarah Connor Chronicles! It was a fun show. Shirley Manson was an awesome casting choice! I so wish it hadn't been canceled. Although thanks to events of this timeline, Sarah Connor ceased to exist and we got Cersei instead.

It'll always be T3 to me. I don't really go in for retroactive name changes due to franchise do-overs. Too confusing. :)

Me to especially since I liked T3. Maybe not a great film but a fun good film with a great ending.

I kind of wish they'd do a sequel or prequel to Salvation. Yeah, I know it's not a very popular movie in the franchise, but at least it tried something new by giving us a new point of view and have it set further in the future, which is a lot more than some of the other movies in the franchise have done. There's a lot to build upon in the version of the future it showed us.

Yeah, I agree. I'm one of the few people who actually liked Salvation.
There have been a some novels and comics set in the Salvation future, if you're open to that kind of stuff.
