tell me agan why I bother keeping Syfy?

I have a sneaking suspicion that SGU isn't going to be that good, so all I'm keeping it for is Caprica. When a genre channel becomes so pathetic that you're only watching one show on it, it may actually be time to dump the channel and get that show through other means, legal or not. I mean, if Caprica is on HULU or rerun on SyFyLys dot com, why bother to have the channel on my TV.

Everything else they make is crap. Everything else they show that's worthy I've either seen before or have on DVD.

Fuck 'em.

You know, all I watch on television right now is Burn Notice and Rescue Me. Neither have been very good this season. If it wasn't for sports, what would be left, Caprica and Stargate Universe? I expect both to fail pretty quickly, for differing reasons.

I just watch "Eureka". SG: Atlantis? Garbage. Last few yeasr of SG1? No point. SG: Universe? No -- thanks -- with SG:A, the last few years of SG1, "Star Trek: Voyager", and the fact Universe is in the same "universe" so to speak ... it's just pointless crap to avoid.

Warehouse 13? It's worse than Dollhouse -- and that's not a compliment by any stretch.

In fact, I'm getting bored with all these new female characters on "Eureka". they're all whinny, bland, and seem to serve no purpose to the plot of the show. I'm having a hard time wanting to tune in each time.

I watch the TNG re-runs if Bill O'Reilly is boring (or guest hosted by same annoying blond chick), but in the end -- I am watching someone else is TV. When I get my own place, I don't have a TV to take with me, and I have NO plans to buy one.

it seems that all they ever show is movies from "the Assylum"(watched "The Terminators" today, it was one giant WTF?) and wrestling

You have a choice? Syfy is on my basic cable. You get it if you get any cable at all. I have already sworn off Warehouse 13 as super cheapness that shows they aren't even trying.

I can block out individual channels with my satelite box

Does that save you any money? I can block a channel out with some parental option, but it would cost the same. I still watch Eureka and hope that SG:Universe will be at least acceptable.

They are showing Gundam 00 on Monday nights - but I hear that they cut some of the episodes a bit short compared to the original.

Plus, they seem to be terrible at actually letting people know they broadcast the series, or try and explain why it might be worth checking out.

(Which is a shame - I consider 00 to be a pretty good series, by and large.)

But then, there are many anime fans who might prefer to watch the Japanese version with English subtitles.

those bastards ruined anime, fucking snobby, wana be stuck up purist art crittics, repressed homosexual freak fansubbers

I wouldn't go quite that far but yeah subtitle elitists are annoying.

I actualy had to muscle out some fansubbers from one Anime store in Pensacola because they were running the legit (and 1000x greater quality) anime off the shelves

I watch my Blu-rays/DVDs (often), Hulu (often), Netflix Instant watch (all the time) and whatever I get on over the air broadcasting (rarely). Cable is a waste of money for me.

not everyone has the money to keep up with blu-ray or even standard dvd T.V. seasons, nor the net connection to make Hulu or netflix viable

I find that digital cable is a vast improvement with the addition of the on demand channels. I can watch all sorts of on demand shows for no additional cost. My girlfriend changed her cable deal and now we get HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax with multiple channels for each one. Summer is sort of a T.V. dead zone, but there are still things to watch.

I still miss The Invisible Man & Farcape.

Eureka, Sanctuary, Warehouse 13, & SG:U are keeping my interest for now.

I wish the Dresden Files had has more of a fucking chance. (Even though it wasn't anywhere close to the novels)

They really need to do another Mini or series on par with The Lost Room

I'm sorry but intermittent Original Programming with low budget C-Movies & Wrestling the rest of the time does not a network make.

They should've just moved the Sci-fi Original Programming to USA and consolidated both networks into an actual kick-ass Superstation.

I find that some series work better with the original voice cast, a few with the English dub, and some are about the same either way.

Oh, and I forgot to mention - over in Japan, Gundam 00 was broadcast in HD, and is being released on Blu-Ray as well as DVD. However, apparently the broadcast of 00 on SyFy is in SD, even on the HD channel.

It might be that Bandai aren't bringing the Blu-Ray version over, and can't give them the HD version to air - but on the other hand, it might just be a case of the network being cheap.

Or, perhaps it's a little from column A, and a little from B?

I didn't say that's what everyone should do. Hence "cable is a waste of money for me". Cable around here is $110 a month for the basic digital package. I pay $8 a month for hundreds of streaming TV series I can watch anytime I want on Netflix Instant Watch (which I get streaming to my television), I watch Hulu, and over the air broadcasting. I can buy Blu-ray DVDs anywhere from $3-$6 each, and when I have nothing else, I can watch over the air broadcasts. It's a LOT cheaper than cable.

How do you get your high speed internet? I get mine through my cable company(I believe most people do the same thing), and the extra price for cable with internet vs. just internet is no where close to $110/month.

Also, where do you find Blu-rays for $3-$6 each?

Well, don't know about him, but I get Phone, TV, and Internet services all through one cable provider and it's over a hundred dollars per month which is actually far cheaper than getting them separately around here so believe it or not it's a deal.
