Surely something good happened to you today

Looking at the election results in Washington State, the Democrats now hold a supermajority in Olympia and the four Republican/Conservative backed initiatives intended to repeal health, environmental laws are falling. So yea?

Today a Spectrum service technician ran a new internet cable into my apartment, replacing the old deteriorating cable (originally installed for cable TV, probably in the 1970s), which should once and for all take care of the problem I've been having with brief but annoying internet interruptions.

Months ago, I bought a packet of "Mommin" biscuits thinking it would make a good stocking filler* for a child-in-law who is a great Moomin fan. Put it away safely.

Some weeks ago, I arranged a visit, pre-grandchild's birthday; pre-Christmas, so needed to check what I had already and what I needed to buy. Could I find these biscuits? Of course not. Looked everywhere (so I thought).

Now, regular readers of my posts might notice a certain similarity with my inability to find the Halloween chocolate. That turned up the day after Halloween... If only I had looked closely at the time, I would have noticed that it was sitting on top of the Moomin biscuits.

Today, I have found the biscuits which is a good job as I am travelling tomorrow!:)

*yes, I did check the best-before date.

That's nice but I hope it was fiber and not coax? What speeds are you getting now?

I'm still running Windows 7 on most of my machines, and I have yet to run into any problems. Can't stand Windows 10, and can't even imagine how bad Windows 11 must be.

Shit, I still have an emulation machine running on XP, outputting to a CRT. Its glorious.

My daughter and granddaughter came over for an early Thanksgiving. The others are coming closer to Thanksgiving. My granddaughter is into sports and wanted to play "catch", but I took my eye off the ball and she nailed me in the eye - the day before my cataract surgery preop. Other than that it was a great day.

I believe it's coaxial cable, same as the old one. I just tested my internet speed and it's downloading at 676 Mbps, uploading at 22 Mbps. I'm just happy to have a steady connection without the outages I was getting from time to time.

My machine runs Windows 11 and it works like a charm -- except for occasionally not going to sleep when it should, or waking up from sleep when it shouldn't. But Windows has had that issue going back to Windows 7.

OMG, I hope everything is OK!!
