Supernatural, season 11 *SPOILERS!*

Curtis Armstrong is one of the best things about this show. I liked Metatron and Chuck's existential conversation. I don't know much about Chuck's character, but it's an interesting choice to make him the Almighty, who has a penchant for writing stories. I'd be intrigued to read his memoirs, such as "Why I never answer prayers (and you should be glad I don't)" or the myth of divine intervention.

One thing I found interesting was the exchange about making Metatron an angel again...continuity nods during big episodes are always appreciated. Since they acknowledged in "The Vessel" that the angels still don't have wings, I'm hoping Chuck reverses Metatron's spell at some point and fixes everything.

Would be great if at the same time we got resolution on Michael and we got Archangel Castiel too. (Hey, one can hope, right?)

That was a very interesting episode, something Supernatural hasn't been though half this season. Way, way too many filler episodes and this one finally delivered something meaty to chew on. Nice little continuity nods and quibs ("Supernatural? That series could really stand a reboot."). The acting in the bar scenes was far better than anything else anyone was doing. Next weeks episode looks to be very interesting.

Q2

I liked when Check said more or less "I've started a new series called Revolution. I don't think it's going anywhere". Nice reference to Kripke's other (canceled) series.

^It was even better when God agreed!

Rob Benedict was wonderful in this episode. I can not wait to see how Sam & Dean react to finding out that Chuck was God all along.

^He's lead singer in a band, Louden Swain (bonus '80s points if you get the reference); if you ever go to a Supernatural convention, you'll see them perform. They are pretty darn good.

Holy Toledo, Ohio. That blew my mind. :D I never thought that they would explicitly reveal Chuck as God, except maybe in the series finale. I loved the conversation between Chuck and Metatron, with Metatron showing a lot of character growth and Chuck being very Godlike-- i.e., obscure and inscrutable. And he made a few tantalizing comments, like Lucifer not being his favorite-- and yet defending him. I really hope we get to see the Almighty Chuck reunited with both Lucifer and Castiel, as well as Amara.

Now that Chuck has decided to become an involved God again, I wonder what else is to come. He's already resurrected all the people in town that Amara killed. Will they use this opportunity to bring back Charlie or Bobby? Restore Crowley's humanity? Eliminate demons and monsters? That would make for a very weird 12th season. "What do you wanna do today?" "I dunno. What do you want to do today?"

While it would be interesting and helpful to have God as a Man of Letters, hanging out with Sam and Dean like an even-more-powerful Castiel, it would probably eliminate a lot of the tension. I have a feeling that in order to get rid of Amara, God will have to get rid of himself-- that he will somehow take Amara away to a new universe or something, getting rid of the threat but turning himself from an absentee parent to a deceased, for all intents and purposes, parent. Humanity will be completely on its own. No more extra lives for Castiel.

Or maybe they'll surprise us with something completely unexpected. I can't wait to see.

His song, and Metatrons reaction to the new pages, does look like it's headed that way.

That's what I assumed anyway when he was singing, that he's going to make amends by cancelling Amara out with himself.

What would season 12 look like then? no God, no Death, Lucy's the biggest thing in the universe unless he plans to go out fighting as well.

The worst part about tonight's episode so far?

The commercial breaks.

Seriously, if you're not watching, check to make sure you're not stuck in the Veil.

I amend my previous statement:

The worst part about tonight's episode? The commercial breaks.

Seriously, this was an absolutely EPIC show. Next week looks to be a great one as well.

Two questions left unanswered:
1) What exactly happened to Metatron at the end? Is he banished or Killed Off For Real?
2) Did the flash of light around Casifer at the end do anything other than heal him? (Hoping he gave Cas and the other angels back their wings, maybe?)

It was just a healing burst, no chance wings were returned.

That's a plotline that I really want them to resolve...it's been bothering me ever since they failed to resolve it in season 9. They acknowledged it openly earlier in the season that without wings Cas still can't teleport or do half the things angels are supposed to be able to do, and with Metatron gone Chuck is pretty much the only one that can do it. I have this hunch we've only got him for a short time, so hopefully he'll go ahead and do it.

^that's like the least important thing to me, actually. To each his own.

What an action-info-event-plot-building packed episode!

(Yes, Supernatural has a gif for everything)

A whole lot of stuff packed into this episode. Felt a bit choppy and jumpy, but there was some really good stuff in there. The best for me was Dean challenging Chuck-God.
Yay for Kevin finally getting into Heaven! About time.
Metatron was sucked into the....void? Darkness? Seems pretty death-like to me.
The poor professor-prophet Donatello is obviously going to come back; his back-story is clearly all set-up for what's about to go down. Jesus Christ, he's the "young" dude from the Equalizer! Holy crap, I'm old.
Loved the scene in the car but damn, talk about your "jarring" jumps in the action. I wonder how Dean felt when he found out Baby was dropped, literally, in the basement?

This all makes me very, very eager to see more. Hooray!

This is the first time I've actually seen Dean cry. I mean the guy is tough as nails, but he got emotional talking to Chuck and asking, "Where have you been all this time?" I guess he's human.

Yup, it does look like Metatron "took one for the team." At least he redeemed himself in the end and was instrumental in freeing Castiel, from captivity and presumably from Lucifer.

What a treat to see Kevin again! I wonder what kind of "upgrade" Chuck gave him. Is he now an angel, or did he simply move up to heaven?

Chuck has certainly been an absentee father to humanity for most of history, and I can certainly understand his willingness to sacrifice himself for the sake of all his creations, especially if that meant ending Amara.
