All Lex, all the time (at least in this promo). Gives it a better-than-season-average chance of being a good one.

Yep, but the finale is apparently still May 17, which means only 19 episodes for the season. They are reportedly reworking the original partially-shot finale footage into a new season-ender.

So yeah, this year has been a clusterfuck creatively, and now it's a clusterfuck logistically as well. Guess I'll just pin my hopes on next season -- or on Superman & Lois (assuming any more TV shows actually get made ever).

They may have just combined the most important parts of Episode 19 (and what was supposed to be Episode 20) into one episode.

Or they could theoretically push back the finale until May 24. The May 17 date hasn't been re-confirmed since this latest change. Depends on what they mean by "aligning" Batwoman and Supergirl.

Probably one of two things: on the CW schedule, they never air a new episode of one unless the other has a new episode as well (trying to get a ratings block for two hours instead of audiences checking out on one hour if its a repeat--which assumes viewers of one support the other), or the plots somehow align. So far on Batwoman, they're doing their own thing and have the Crows corruption arc to finish. I hope that series pushes into the "Batty" direction more than being dragged back into that lifeless CW-COIE/aftermath business. The two series do not mix well at all.

Unless Maggie and Kate hook up, because y'know the comics.

Worse comes to worst, they will recast Maggie.

While I know your contempt for Supergirl is all-consuming -- and while I will admit, from an objective posture, that Batwoman has certainly been the stronger show this year -- the characters/actresses do mix very well, as demonstrated in both "Elseworlds" and "CoIE." I would love to see more crossovers between them, which would seem an obvious thing to do next season, now that Batwoman has fully established itself, and once the coronavirus production chaos is (hopefully) over.

While I know you feverishly hold Supergirl up as a gift from on high, the fact Batwoman is the stronger series means it should not lose its tone/voice with another crossover where it has to be watered down to fit some union with a series that is running around in circles and rarely knows how to create or plot an antagonist that should make the series stronger. .

I think the Supergirl.TV Admins may be confused as to the number of episodes that Season 5 was originally supposed to contain.

If the only episode that the cast and crew had left to film was the Season Finale, they would have had 21 episodes already finished when this whole pandemic started and Season 5 would therefore end up being able to be 21 episodes in length rather than the originally-planned and 'standard' 22 episodes in length.

Ending the season at Episode 5x19 therefore either means that they only had 19 episodes filmed (with 3 still left to go) or they're holding off some of the episodes they had filmed so that they air as part of Season 6 and Season 5's storyline won't actually conclude until the Fall when they can go back in and properly wrap it all up whilst also starting a new storyline.

^ Reportedly, even before the whole coronavirus thing, the current season of Supergirl was only going to be 20 episodes. I'm not going to search up links, because it's all moot at this point anyway, but you can probably find 'em if you care to.

The 20 episodes thing was confirmed a while back I thought. I think it was confirmed even before the pregnancy.

Like I said earlier, my own personal speculation is that they'll merge the best/most important parts of Episode 19 and what was supposed to be Episode 20 into one episode as the "finale" for this season, which means we will get only 3 more new episodes of Supergirl this spring/summer. That would also "align" it with Batwoman, which apparently didn't finish shooting Episode 20 and only has 3 more new episodes to air this spring/summer as well.

Oh, hardly. :p I've been nothing but (regretfully) critical of the ill-conceived and poorly-executed current season.

It's true the show remains a sentimental favorite for me, however.

I'm in the same boat as you here. I so, so, so much wanted Season 5 to be a great follow up to the epic Season 4. Alas, we got this meandering mess of a season instead. :(

I've found some of the individual episode OK, but the whole arc of this season has been kind of a mess.
I thought I was behind, but apparently the last one I watched, the VR Alex as Supergirl one, was the latest.
The stuff with Alex as Supergirl and using it to deal with her father's death was OK, but all of the stuff with Kelly and William really hurt the episode. I hadn't minded them up till now, but with this one when we got a significant part of the episode that was just them, I realized just how fucking boring and bland they are. Every time they showed up onscreen, all I could think about was how badly I just wanted them to get back to Alex.

It would be better if they had higher power levels. :nyah: :D

But yeah, what a boring and bland (good choice of words there) mess this season has been. Leviathan (as depicted here) is quite possibly the most boring villain I've ever seen in superhero media. It's bad when a monster of the week villain like Reactron was more interesting. The Lena arc is completely drawn out and overplayed now. Just get the resolution over with. Having this cold war between Lena and Kara makes both characters less interesting and less compelling.

I'm not sure how any of the writers/producers could have possibly thought William would be an interesting character. It doesn't help that the actor gives me Robert Beltran wooden acting vibes.

I have to admit, I was pretty bored by the whole build up to the release of the VR, and now that it's been released, it's not really been that interesting overall. The only good part of that whole thing was Alex as Supergirl.

It's not a great thing when there are probably only going to be 2-3 episodes out of the entire season that need to be watched. And the crossover was one of them, lol.
