Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

Presumably Hank Henshaw didn't just now get turned into a cyborg. He's obviously been one for some time. So why has he been just hiding out at Cadmus for all these years instead of exposing J'onn as an impostor? Why wait until now to show himself?

I have several thoughts on that:
1) The DEO clearly had/has the official sanction and support of President Marsdin and presumably others within her administration/cabinet, and likely had the official sanction and support of whomever held the office before her

2) The impression I got from Col. Harper is that, prior to revealing themselves to the world, Cadmus was an extremely covert "black-ops" branch of the US government and one that may not have gotten the same amount of support as the DEO, possibly on account of being seen as too "extreme"

3) It might not have been advantageous for Cadmus to reveal what they knew precisely because of the DEO and Henshaw having full Presidential support and sanction, and any claims they made against Henshaw might've been dismissed

It didn't have to be Cadmus, though. Henshaw looks like an ordinary human, or did until Supergirl burned half his face off. He could've come forward at any time and exposed J'onn as an impostor without having to expose his ties to Cadmus.

Although even as I typed that, I thought of the counterargument: He'd have to prove his identity, and as a cyborg, he couldn't exactly pass a medical exam.

If you have superpowers-such as lazer/electro/heat vision, and you're locked in a cell with nice, evenly spaced unbreakable Nth metal bars, couldn't you at least try and do something? Shoot heat vision thru those nicely spaced bars, and blast holes in the room's walls, ceiling, and floors to attract attention. Spin at high speed and create a vortex that blows down the walls (hey, you and your fellow captive are near Invulnerable, you'd be safe inside those super strong cells...) with hopes that plucky DEO minions monitoring the city would notice?

That is a constant problem with the Supergirl writers: as much as they try to celebrate SG at every turn, tactical analysis when in dangerous situations rarely dawns on her.

And if your fellow captive is being threatened with a gun, I dunno, use that power to fry the evil leader's hand mid monolouge?

Shh! Do not dare point out the plotting errors that could have been solved with a moment's worth of thought! :D

It took Winn weeks to create Guardian's hero suit, but some yahoo came up with a knock off in a fraction of the time? One that let him best the real Guardian???

True--and Phillip (the vigilante) was not in possession of alien technology, so the Guardian's DEO-sampled suit should have handled anything the ex-SEAL used against him. I get the impression that the Guardian's difficulties are are set up for his consistent face off against "superior" criminals, which will either force James to demand greater power, or he drops his head in some period of defeat.

Oy vey. Really writers? C'mon, you've got to do better than this.

.....................er.............

I wonder if the fact that the crossover was next week impacted this episode this week. It felt really busy, like an episode and a half in 45 minutes. The stuff with Jeremiah felt short changed in that this was the way season 1 ended and it would have been to to get more of an impact. The stuff with Gaurdian is something I really don't care too much about mainly because it's so unrelated to everything else. Honestly if you're going to do a Cadmus episode, it should be an event type episode. Heck I could see this episode as a mid season finale, especially with the end and Madusa, which I hope is not this seasons Miryad.

The second thing I thought of was... I wonder if Kung Fu and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues could fit in this universe. :o

The third... Too bad David Carradine is dead.

My god, this one was just full of the writers going: "Screw and logic or intelligence - lets go back to 1950ies comic book logic..."

- 'Cyborg Superman' just seems to show up to show up. I mean come on CADMUS reveals a major weapon in their arsenal just to reveal a major weapon in their arsenal.

- jaramiah gets Kara/Mon-El out pretty easily. I really hope we find out he's willingly working for them or something because the whole "You go, I have to stay..." bit is just so contrived.

- Also, I thought at least with all the hassle they went through to get a blood sample from Supergirl - we'd be seeing a Galatea/Power Girl story element at some point - but it's just something that Cyborg Superman uses to fool the defenses of the Fortress of Solitude; and he does so by simply pouring the contents of the vial over his hand and placing it on what appears to be a handprint scanner. Wow Kryptonian biometric technology must have been non-existent on Krypton if that's all it takes.:rofl:

I honestly don't mind the occasional 'handwave' or 'yeah. they just needed to move the story' nonsense once in a while; but this was ridiculous. They didn't just make use of the 'Idiot Ball' here - they employed the 'Idiot Sledgehammer'.;)

Between super blowing, super sucking, heat ray vision, superscreaming, super clapping, superhypnosis and FLIGHT I have no idea how they kept that idiot prisoner in a cell.

Yes, the bars, floors and even ceiling were nth metal, but that nth metal is bolted to concrete or something else that she can can break. Like a hamster in a hamster ball, Kara could have ripped that cage from the building's superstructure and then demolished the entire block and everything else owned by a Luthor, from inside an nth metal wrecking ball.

Or here's an idea...

LIE!

As soon as they let you out of the cage, with only your word of honour to keep your promise to castrate yourself, don't, just don't. In the pale moonlight FFS! break your word, be a dishonest person to avoid castration, and I promise we won't think any less of you Kara.

If I was the bad guy at that point, I would have taken her eyes, and maybe cut her hands and feet off, if killing her wasn't out right an option. Kara is lucky they didn't tattoo anything on her forehead, like Alien, or Alien-Scum, or go home alien after she willingly submitted to castration and complete helplessness.

Kara needs to change her superhero name to Stupidgirl.

Kara doing what Lillian wanted her to do, even with the threat of harm to Mon-El hanging in the air, was very out-of-character for her (which is saying something since it's been established that she can be a bit too naively trusting).

Shouldn't have, Barry and Cisco will show up at some point, presumably near the end, to ask for her help but the rest of the episode is going to be unrelated to the crossover.

The Thanagrians, mentioned this week in Supergirl (the source of Nth metal) are an oppositional force in legends of tomorrow, and in comics were part of the Invasion of '89.

Is legends moving timeslots after the Invasion, or is the CW ###ing up the viewing order?

Mama Luthor: Her sense of betrayal (at the hands of Kryptonians) was believable; one might argue that Lex would not move into his megalomaniacal direction if he never met / interacted with Superman

I'm kinda confused on the timeline of this.

I was under the impression that Lex had been imprisoned relatively recently(maybe a year or so prior to the premier of Supergirl), considering Lena only took it upon herself to re-brand and re-imagine Luthorcorp in the season premiere.

Lillian Luthor justifies her involvement with Cadmus being Lex's imprisonment, but Hank and Jeremiah had been with Cadmus for 15 years, presumably way before Lex turned into a villain. So did she only recently get involved with Cadmus?

On one hand that explains why Cadmus has only now begun actively working against aliens. On the other it raises questions on what exactly were they doing prior to that? Who was in charge of Cadmus and what was its purpose? What were real Hank and Jeremiah doing all these years? Also, since they had the real Hank all this time they obviously knew the head of the DEO was an impostor. So why not expose him within those 15 years?

She is trading with offworlders, while restricting all access to aliens from Joe Sixpack.

Building a monopoly.

This is all a business scheme.

:)

Cyborg Superman is such a lame name but I like the idea that the original Hank Henshaw is back and it should provide a future great fight with Martian Hank. Also Supergirl really needs to have a GPS chip in bedded in her suit so she can be tracked.

She does carry a cell phone and an earpiece as Supergirl, so the DEO should already be able to track her phone GPS. Presumably Cadmus has the means to disable tracking devices.
