Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

-Jonn has a VIDEO of what happened at the Artic base where he sees how the Parasite drains energy/lifeforce from people but when he and Supergirl first confront the merged creature they BOTH decide to go hand to hand with it??

I chalked that one up to over-confidence in their own invulnerability. I mean, Supergirl is invulnerable to lots of stuff that would destroy an ordinary human. Surely, she'll be immune to this infected human's powers, right?

Oops.

At least it wasn't permanent.
I was afraid we get another Kara has to deal with losing her powers for an episode based on the itunes description.

The drain effect was interesting though.
The "mummified" appearance of her was clearly inspired by Batman vs Superman.
Thankfully they didn't burry her alive.

That would explain the confidence the first time she fights him in the lab, but then they set a trap for him and again decide to go hand to hand.

IDK - the old 'idiot ball' was STRONG in this episode:

- Kara goes to an alien bar (also frequented by humans) and accepts and takes a drink that the Bartender states in public "would kill humans" <--- Yep, way to guard that secret identity.

Yes, that was idiotic. She has no reason to think exhibiting behavior that proves she's an alien could not be used for a spy's--or another alien benefit (for a reprieve)--especially in this climate of anti-alien sentiment.

You just brought a LONE survivor back from a situation where it's possible a DEADLY virus was unleashed; yet you let him just walk out having the option to decline a 24 hour observation period? (IE was the Artic base a Government facility or not? And if so, they should have full authority to detain personnel for medical reasons.)

Lazy writing just to create a conflict. The writers/producers have a hard time creating logical points that motivate conflicts. Stuff just happens, making the protagonists seem less than bright--and that really hurts Hank--the sharpest among them.

I've said the series has SG getting her ass handed to her often, but yeah, if you know the enemy drains energy, there's no justifyable reason to fight hand to hand for round 2. More lazy writing.

Or how she fights, and how the fight is choreographed, and how much SFX is used during a fight, is determined by budget?

I've said it before - the actors and the characters they portray are better than the shit the writers have them say and do. My wife and I are still watching because we just like the people. But we roll our eyes a lot at what's going on.

I'm about in the same boat, the writers are apaprently not even trying to remove plotholes or glaring reality mistakes (apart from having superpowered characters). It's more like the Michael Bay approach.. if it hinders the story just ignore it and hope the audience doesn't care.

However as you said i really like the cast, foremost Melissa Benoist who plays this bubbly Supergirl really well and it's fun to watch.

So Arrow will be hitting the 100th episode milestone during the crossover in two weeks, but the Supergirl episode this Monday will be the 200th episode of the Arrowverse in little over 4 years.

That's pretty amazing, has there ever been a shared fictional universe that grew this fast?

The Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction and Green Acres. In the span of nine years, all generated 666 episodes. Yes, 666.

I would guess none of the Arrowverse will last that long.

And... how the hell is James constantly just walking into the top secret government paramilitary headquarters? I work for a simple, basic government contractor, and any visitor requires prior notification, security vetting, and an escort on premises. If we HAD a NORAD-like control room, you can bet "friends of employees" wouldn't even know it existed, much less be able to walk into it.

Maybe the security guards are woman, so they mistake Jimmy for that plastic bag blowing in the wind from American Beauty?

But you are not TWO of the world's most renowned godlike superheros.
If you were and your best pal helped save the world a couple of times, he might get soecial treatment, too.

Jimmy is writing a story that will burn the DEO to the ground, just in case it ever becomes clear that they happened to have been evil all along.

It's easier to monitor the progression of that story like this, rather than chasing tinfoil hat Jimmy cross country in a winabego, if he twigs that they are onto him for being a REPORTER.

I forgot to mention it in my other post, but I do agree that letting Jones go just because he said he didn't want to stay was stupid on the DEO's part. At that point they had nowhere near enough information to know if it was safe to let him go. I understand they needed him to get out for the story to continue, but I think the whole thing would have worked better if he had escaped or had not been caught in the first place.

St Elsewhere.
Yeah but they cheated.

I think they're trying to address the issue from last season where the Cat Co. and the DEO plots mostly felt like they were on separate shows. I agree though that particular detail kind of harms the credibility.
