Spoilers Supergirl - Season 1

I'm still wondering where the heck Kara got that Kryptonian uniform from. Did she pick one up from Non's hideout at some point? Did Astra drop it off for her earlier in case she wanted to join them? Was it something the DEO happened to have lying around for some reason? Or did the Red K just give her really great sewing skills along with the bitchy attitude? :D

What an awesome episode, easily one of the best.

First the bad stuff:

- they really discovered Red Kryptonie awfully quick.. a "thermal" scan and suddenly they can measure radiation (once again playing it very loose with science and technology)? How convenient.

- Maxwell Lord.. biggest flaw in the episode. Ins't Supergirl going haywire an early christmas present for him? Isn't that what he was always claiming that you can't trust aliens, especially superpowered ones? All he had to do was lean back and watch Supergirl destroy her reputation forever and maybe then come up with a Kryptonite gun to kill and be the hero, Instead he's full of remorse and even helps the DEO "cure" Supergirl. Why?

Now the awesome:

Where to begin? I loved Supergirls/Kara's progression into villain status. First the indifference, then the arrogance while fighting the escapee, the wardrobe and mentality change (well we all know Benoist is hot but damn!) and finally her creepy, villanous state. Benoist really delivered and it was a sight to see Supergirl turn into a villain, including throwing Cat off the roof (we all knew she'd catch her because this show aint Breaking Bad but still..). Even better was her total breakdown when she normalized again, it was heartbreaking and her heart to heart with Cat was a perfect end to that storyline and the beginning of the redemption (i sincerely hope they will will milk that at the level of this episode.. it would be a shame to see 20 minutes devoted to this in the next episode and everything back to status quo).

Hank Henshaw/J'onn Jonnz, didn't expect him to blow his cover now but it was perfectly set up and executed. A brilliant moment and i loved the short fight but especially when J'onn transformed back and let himself be arrested. His scene in the prison cell and especially the small smile and wink to Alex and them saying goodbye prison style was just up there with the best scenes Supergirl had to offer yet.

All considered a brilliant episode that is a true game changer for the show that was setup long before and i hope they run with it and develop that in interesting ways that both change and elevate the show because up until now the stories are pretty mediocre and only pieces of it make me watch it (itäs superheroes, i like Benoist because she is a perfect Supergirl and is more than just hot and her supporting cast is both entertaining and fun).

I actually preferred Kara's new look when she was under the influence of the red K. Her outfit at CatCo was much more "grown up" and classy. And the Kryptonian uniform looked really good on her. Yes, she did look like Astra. And she looked amazing in the club scene. For the first time, I actually found Melissa Benoist very attractive whereas before she looked too girly and kinda insecure for my taste.

Because that's who she is at heart (maybe not the girly part). Melissa Benoist is very hot and so is Kara but Kara is insecure and the girl next door. The wardrobe she had on while under the influence was more like 20s party/high fashion girl which she simply isn't.

It hasn't been officially renewed yet, only hinted at in a CBS conference call. And to be fair, the last low rated episode jumped from a 1.4 to a 1.9 with Live+3 factored in (and against the same stiff competition), so I suppose it's not really as bad as it might look.

Still though, all the talk beforehand from the experts was it needed to pull in much better numbers than either Flash or Arrow regularly get on the CW, and it's not really doing that. So who knows...

I do not see this series running more than two seasons. Its had enough marketing exposure for months, but its not turning into some growing hit, if last night's ratings are an indicator.

I hit pause last night when my wife and I were watching at the scene where the police show up and start shooting bullets. I'm like this where things fall apart in their "real world" because this is where Superman should show up to shut this sh*t down.

Superman--meaning a full-on appearance is unlikely to happen. The full-on character is for the movies--a separate universe, proven by the forthcoming Flash movie, where the origin, casting and the Justice League movie--have nothing to do with the TV version, which now shares the Supergirl universe.

Because this series--or rather the producers have trouble drawing hard lines about good and evil. Everything is not always shadings of gray, and after the volume of corrupt / threatening / violent acts committed by Lord and his henchmen, its unrealistic for the character to be turning over a huge new leaf. If the producers were smart, his helping would be a bargaining chip, smoke and mirrors, or the beam which "restored" Supergirl actually left something else in her, such as some abiltiy to control her. Otherwise, its out of nowhere and senseless for Lord to be Captain Altruism.

I am pretty sure his act was one of pure self preservation.
A Supergirl uninhibited without morals like that might get the idea to follow up on previous threats she was too ethical for before.
Very bad news for Lord.
Esspecially if she finds out that he tried to kill her with that little kryptonite stunt.

I suppose it could be that Lord has a much better and more thorough plan in mind for ruining/destroying Supergirl, and doesn't like the idea of some unintentional accident getting in the way of that.

Well then they should have put in a scene explaining that (and i like our reasoning). As it stands it was totally out of left field and against his established character so it stood out like a sore thumb in an otherwise very enjoyable episode.

It feels to me like the writers took the red K in this episode and used it to "tweak" the show a bit. Nearly every relationship in the show has been changed. Maybe in response to feedback they've been reading about the first half of the season?

Again with this? Seriously?
I'm glad Superman didn't show up. This show is about Supergirl. Early in the season I was worried that this show would get too bogged down with Superman upstaging his cousin. I'm glad he's become an afterthought. For the sake of this series (As in, screw the comics), I'm glad it's Supergirl only and the world in relation to her.

Yeah it barely crosses my mind anymore either. I've just come to accept that Superman is busy with other emergencies or supervillains and has enough confidence in Kara that she can handle things in her neck of the woods. And so far, she has been able to.

Krypton is the planet, the stuff that hurts Kryptonians is Kryptonite.

The cape doesn't give her the power to fly.

Whether or not she uses the bathroom was still a subject of debate last time I checked.

Honestly, this doesn't bother me either, probably because, as a comic-book fan, I long ago came to peace with the idea that superheroes who live in the same universes don't constantly come to each others' rescues--even when that would be logical thing to do. (Except in team-up books and special crossovers, of course.)

Logically, of course, Captain America should call the Avengers every time the world is in danger, but, of course, he only did so in AVENGERS issues, not in his own solo book. And if Gotham City is only one hour away from total destruction and the odds are against him, shouldn't Batman be getting the rest of the Justice League on the phone right away, just to be safe?

But that's not how it works . . . you just need to assume that Superman is currently defending Metropolis from Mongul or Giganto or somebody and let it go.
