Well, why does the Excelsior has that massive cut out at the bottom of the Engineering hull? this isn't the first, and differently not the last ship that has a design element that a logical minded person goes.. Huh?
For me, being that I build these things in 3d, and when doing that I break out my slide rule, and measure deck height, length, seeing if x,y,z can fit in to the ship, some ships are just all jacked up.
This one? Only guess is that they wanted more space windows so when they show quarters, they can use the same set (thats true even in CGI its a set) and keep costs down.
or just looked cool to the designer.
