Based on what I've been able to find, the first use of "Let's Fly!" (Burnham's catchphrase) was in the season 3 finale, "That Hope is You Pt. 2", first airing on Jan 7, 2021. Capt. Freeman's "Warp Me!" appeared in S1 E9 "Crisis Point", airing October 1, 2020 - technically around 3 months sooner than its DSC companion episode with a similar concept. Both captains were ruminating over what their catchphrases should be in multiple episodes leading up to their final decisions (no idea when the dialog started).

So, it IS possible that DSC came up with the concept in the writing room sooner and one of the LDS writers heard about it and decided to do one of their own, poking fun at it, and their episode just happened to drop before DSC's did. Then again, it's also possible that LDS was the first and DSC followed suit to try to be a little more trendy.

After Orville hit the air, it has always felt (to me) like DSC has been trying to play catch-up, especially when they realized it's actually okay to have a dramatic show with some slapstick comedy (Linus sneezing?) They saw the head-scratching success of LDS amongst the fandom and decided to continue to draw from the comedy well.

I would love to see someone's severed leg fall out of the Enterprise's ceiling. One of Chapel's "experiments".

We didn’t see Burnham ruminate on her warp command before using it multiple times. She didn’t discuss it onscreen at any point, as we don’t see any of her time as Captain before the final scenes of S03, including “let’s fly.”

‪‪I believe that the confusion comes from a single scene between Saru and Tilly that was an intentionally light moment, where they discuss his potential warp phrases at the beginning of S03.

And if even someone were to be killed off, it would be public knowledge long before the episode aired. I knew that Tasha Yar and Jadzia Dax were being killed off long before I actually saw the episodes where it happened.

I count those as beams. ;)

(Criteria is: If you pause the screen in the mid of firing, is there a moment where one long beam goes all the way from beginning to end, or is there a thin bubble hanging in the middle of the screen:rommie:)

    Correct.

It's weird how some people hate Burnham so much that they're making up reasons to hate her.

Very well. In this example the point of view is so close to the ship that we don't see the entire bolt, but judging from the speed its ends travel, it's apparent it is an energy projectile of finite length. Not a constant beam from the emitter to the target.
Which, to me, justifies the red bolts fired in the prequels.

1st: Its more like "most people".
2nd: Don't need to make up reasons! Writers did that on their own. I think shes a great actress. Just horrible material to work with .
3rd: I like the phrase: Punch it!

Seriously, I find it incredibly reductive to think that our enjoyment of a work of fiction is limited to simply "Who knows if the protagonists will survive!". Not everything has to be a matter of life or death.

Or who saw Friends was doing it just to know if Rachel was going to kill Ross?

I know the fate of Obi-Wan Kenobi and I'm gonna be there excited as can be for the new Disney+ series. The joy is in the journey, not the destination.
