I see on second viewing that the "beaming the gene therapy" is a little less extreme; it's a topical salve rather than a remote injection.

They acknowledge in dialogue that Chapel's first injections didn't involve access to Kiley DNA. She just changed their appearance. Which doesn't explain the retinal scans.

If only 600,000 died in WW3, it was definitely not a full out nuclear war. Both USSR and US have enough nukes to destroy the world many times over. So, a limited nuclear war. Although, you'd think that if DC was nuked, the US would respond all out.
The 600,000 did not refer to human population, but plants and species, a third of humanity died that would be over 2 billion people

I was reminded more than a bit of the pilot for SeaQuest DSV with the Admiral coaxing the reclusive Captain off the island to deal with a crisis using his beloved ship.

The suggestion is that the mass destruction and nukes may have started as domestic warfare rather than international conflicts.

I loved the episode, it was the best pilot of any of the new shows so far.
As much as I like Discovery, and Picard, it's nice to get a new live action show that feels more like traditional Star Trek, and is also a lot of fun.
Really like the whole cast, they all did a good job and the characters all seem pretty interesting. I was a little surprised they didn't deal with La'an's ancestry.
The Gorn sound pretty nasty.
I was pretty shocked we actually saw Spock's engament to T'Pring, I didn't expect that to be a part of this.
The stuff on the planet was pretty good, really felt like a modern take on the kinds of stories TOS and TNG did, and that is exactly what I was hoping for.
Gave it an excellent in the poll.

Yeah. I wouldn't compare them to the Batman movies. That's like comparing continuity with the Bond films. :)

Which actually have floating continuity in the first 20 movies and then a rigid line of continuity for the five most recent. ;)

Just wait until the next Bond asks Stephen Strange to make his enemies forget his real identity.

IT'S ALL CONNECTED!!!
