Straight from Moffat: 2010 is Series 11.1

What a silly marketing gimmick. Just call it Series Five and be done with it.

;)

And I would completely agree with that if they had called Christopher Eccleston's episodes "Season Twenty-Seven."

They should have. And you know why they didn't?

That's right. Silly marketing gimmick.

Or they honestly thought of the Doctor Who that commenced production in 2005 as a different television program from the Doctor Who that commenced production in 1963.

How in hell did he declared that it will be series 11.1? It's very irresponsible for him to declare the series itself like that, it will always going to lead more confusing, let alone series 11.1!

So, no, I'm not in the agreement that it should be series 11.1! Just going to called it Season five, end of the discussion. But will be looking forward to see an all new story with new young doctor, new assistant to joining in the journey afterward.

God. I can't believe people are genuinely arguing this fact.

He can't use series 31, because that would make the RTD series look stupid. On the other hand, he probably doesn't want to use series 5 because it's a completely new slate, so why not use something that's unique, to the point, and obvious? Eleventh Doctor - First series.

OMGZ AMIDOINITRITE?

Personally, I like the Doctor#.Season#.Episode# format. But, that's just me. I think having the entire program numbered like that would be helpful for people trying to catch up on the show without having to consult Wikipedia's list of episodes all the time.

I certainly am not interested in debating, but I think it's relatively obvious that Moffat was joking. That might the internal numbering system the BBC uses. But, I don't think he was genuinely saying that the absolute last word on it was this "11.1" stuff. I think he was just being silly old Steven Moffat, per usual... ;)

dont get me wrong 11.1.1 is a logical method to use, however its not something you could start, if it had been for all the previous Doctors its something you could do, but it hasnt so you cant.

It will always be S5 for me.

Sod the lot of you. I'm sticking with Season Brian. Or Arthur. Or Cynthia. Yeah.

This is stupid.

It's Season 31, plain and simple.

:p

It's actually not. The show was off the TV for 15 years, this is a new show. :-p

However I'm fine with series 31 too, but 11.1 is stupid.

More so in the future it will be called Series 5 because of the DVDs. That's all that matters anyways.

I'm sure he was making a joke, I can't believe the response over what's clearly a joke. :wtf:
