Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

This is why I believe the Sovereign class was originally intended as a replacement for the Excelsior and not the Galaxy. I doubt that Starfleet would have been working on the Galaxy replacement during it's launch. As the Sovereign is quite a bit smaller it is likely it would have been designed to take on the deep space duties of the Excelsior and not the deep space exploration that the Galaxy was intended for. As the Borg and Dominion threat emerged the Sovereign class was adapted for battle during it's design and then more suited for the Federation flagship after the Ent-D was destroyed, especially as the existing Galaxy ships both in service and being constructed would need refitted for war.

Had the Enterprise-D survived I'm sure it would have been refitted and remained the flagship.

That's just my theory anyway.

I'm pretty sure the Sovereign is meant to be one of those ships that Cdr. Shelby said were "on the drawing boards" during the Best of Both Worlds. It's not a drop-in replacement. It's a new design meant to fill a defensive role that hadn't previously existed.

The thing is...the 1701 refit and 1701-A actually look like reasonable refits of the DiscoPrise without essentially building an entirely new ship with the barest fragments of the old one.

If anything the Discovery Enterprise ...makes MORE sense than the OG one..
This really is not the case. Like at all. If you actually compare the shapes and proportions, the Discoprise deviates from the refit much more than the original, it is only superficial details like the angled pylons that makes it look more similar at a glance.

Don't obsess over the outer mold line.

Meet the real life USS Chicago before and after its conversion from gun cruiser to missile cruiser.

Bittorent already existed in 2001 ;)
Ah the golden age of c-band wildfeeds and forum mods looking away when ENT discussions about a new episode started a day before it aired on UPN :)

- No promoting piracy, or promoting adblockers. The last one especially will get you tossed from the board.
Forum mod not looking the other way. This isn't 2001. Let us speak no more of this subject.

That image looks great, but where is it from?

Edit: At first glance I thought it was the model from Nemesis, but it looks like the nacelle struts may have been reinforced. It basically looks like the final refit John Eaves proposed for the Nemesis spacedock scene to me.

E is looking good for her age.

No major changes from what I can see.

Which leaves one question, who is the Captain now.

Geordi, Worf or Riker from TNG
Harry, Tom or Chakotay from VOY

Wesley...

Must admit Captain Crusher sounds pretty good.

P.S Added Chakotay due to the presence of Seven in the show, unless they split up in which case does that mean Seven is available (asking for a friend).

It’s from Devian Art. Pretty but still fan made. Not from Picard. Don’t know why people try to pretend images are something they are not in the age of google image search.
Caerules posted it in this forum as well ...

(apparently it is a Croatian Forum)

It seems like USS Enterprise-E for Star Trek Picard:
Can someone confirm?

YES, we can confirm that it is a fake, seemingly coming from you.
:wtf:
