Yup. It's about making it accessible and Star Trek is the story of the human adventure.
How many of those ships were actually named in the show. I remember hearing Excelsior, Stargazer and Uhura.
I didn't say shared the same name I said call backs.
Fair play for the Nog callback but we had another Intrepid class Voyager and another Constitution class which were actually shown in show.
Which was quite annoying. Even during the TOS era when all the Connies had Earth-centric names, there should still have been way more diversity that just naming 99% of all the Discoverse fleet after human aviators.
He was making a humorous observation, which might have gone over your head.
As well he should. It’s a great design for the TMP era, just like the original Stargazer was.
Doug Drexler had drawn up a 3-view schematic. I expect he'll be posting those within the next few weeks.
Doug has said he is sitting on a Treasure Trove of stuff, but is waiting till after the show premieres, I guess similar to Season 2 when they dropped stuff on the Stargazer and other ships of the fleet.
Untill then, plenty of pictures of the Shangri La out on the Internet, even some Ortho's
idk if Doug will be allowed, Dave Blass and John Eaves had to remove everything they posted about Season 2.
That's because CBS/Paramount wants to make money off of it by publishing it in book form.
And I would pay handsomely for that.
It comes out in May. "Star Trek: Picard: The Art and Making of the Series"
It has orthos for ALL the ships used in the show?
Probably not, that would be a lot of ink.
Indeed it would. I repeat my last...
What was the original Titan's dedication plaque quote in the novels, anyone remember? I'm almost certain there was a scene in the first book, but I don't have it on hand.
According to Memory Alpha:
IIRC it quoted Surak’s IDIC.
The problem with naming the ships is the fine line between callbacks and new stuff. And that problems starts with us, the fans. (I hate that word.....)
People here are calling for both new ships and names, and there are people calling for the Titan that was part of the novels. TPTB are trying to come up with something that can please both people. Sometimes that works (I think the Stargazer did). Sometimes it doesn't. (I love the desing of the new Titan, but yeah, naming it so....)
Personally, I'm curious if there will be a comment from Riker about his Titan and what happened. Little throw away line or something.
Destroyed by the Pakleds.
"WE GOT ENTERPRISE! THE CRIMSON FORCEFIELD IS PAKLED NOW!"
