Didn't see one put up so thought I would do it, god dam looking so forward to this episode :techman:

It was a cool reveal, but the glow died pretty quickly. Although I like the Asgard, and wish they hadn't been disposed of at the end of SG1, that doesn't mean I wanted to see them turn up on Atlantis [the show]. I wanted to see some original adversaries added, so falling back to a known race from the parent show took the fun out of it for me. And their ships got pounded by the Traveler vessel? :shifty: Now they may not be as advanced as the Asgard we knew, but you'd think if their ship could penetrate the Atlantis shield, that they could withstand fire from 1 Traveler vessel.
Too bad Daniel never thought to tell them that a gate network could be disabled. All they'd have to do is shut off the Attero device until the program could be retrieved, and then activate it in shifts, shutting off the gates for designated periods to allow the device to do it's thing.
Problem solved.

The Traveller engineer reminded me a young version of Kaylee. Too bad for Zelenka that they made her a kid.

And the mysterious disappearing Caldwell. :wtf: The crew didn't even bother mentioning him. I'm assuming he was in sickbay unconscious. Boy will he be ticked his crew couldn't muster acknowledging his absence.

In spite of my quibbles I thought it was a rousing, jam packed conclusion...

pretty good. i haven't been watching SGA much this season. The Asgard revelation was unexpected I liked the little guys so I wasn't too down on it. I agree about the ease at which their vessel was clocked by the traveller ship. The wraith ship also seem way too easy to beat.
I like the Todd wraith character, If they had given the wraith a little more personality and not so one dimensional since season 1 they might not need to keep trying to come up with new "villain" races.
I also think the atlantis crew should have been cut off from earth for far longer but hey that's a general discussion and not specific to this ep. Nice to see Jackson again, too.

^stopping threats and saving the crew in the nick of time. none of the principal characters gets hurt. McKay figures it out, again. I mean no doubt the show is pretty formulaic. If it wasn't for the sense of humour the SG shows have about themselves I probably wouldn't watch.

Ho hum, everything back to normal (apart from a new enemy) by the end of the ep, typical 2-parter. I was hoping this wouldn't suffer 2-parter syndrome, but whaddyagonnado.

I wish I could say it was great, but it was just the average Stargate 2 parter.

It was ok, nothing fantastic. I wish for once they would do something different. The Asgard reveal was a little misused I think. So we have an offshoot of the Asgard, who don't care for the rules, but they're useless, scared, and willing to kill everyone else to get off their planet. Why not just ask the people on Atlantis for help, they're obviously more (at as least as) technologically advanced and could help them. And why turn the situation with Todd in to a more adverarial one again? It was good to see some growth of the Wraith rather than just the 2 dimensional bad guys.

Kinda average.

As soon as someone last week said 'the title of this episode makes sense', I suspected Asgard involvement. Nice to see the pesky humans from another Galaxy make another highly-advanced adversary. :p

I guess Ronan and Keller won't be caught banging in the gate room any time soon.

I agree. The difference between the attack on Atlantis in "First Contact" and the ship battle in "Lost Tribe" was striking. In "First Contact", the Asgard seem powerful and unstoppable. They easily infiltrate Atlantis and take the device without Shep being able to do anything. After the reveal, this unstoppable force is reduced to fragile bodied little Asgard with ships that appear weaker than a Traveller ship in direct combat.

I would have liked to have seen a bit of Caldwell in this episode If the actor was not available they should have not have put him in part 1
The engineer reminded me of the one from fire fly.
Just one thing i thought to gate to earth you needed a special crystal which would have got blow up?
Also why did Atlantis not go boom did the shield manged to suck up so much of the explosion before it failed?

Good point. It looks like this 'lost tribe' of Asgard spent more R&D time on their suits instead of their ships.

Yeah, it was odd that they were suddenly vulnerable and weak... to the point where they took out three ships on their own?
But the actual reveal with the dude coming out of the suit... my jaw was on the floor. Totally unexpected. Bravo.

Side note - I guess the obtuse reference to Firefly was kind of amusing. They have the chipper "do anything" girl engineer on a broken down ship engineering room and they go out of their way to show that the "real" Kaylee doesn't have much engineering skill.

Glad I wasn't the only one who caught the (subtle?) Firefly reference. I really liked this episode. I enjoyed seeing the Asguard again and thought the reveal was very well done. At least the promo didn't give it away this time.

The space battle was gorgeous with the Asguard ship jumping to hyperspace right in front of the approaching Traveller vessel. Great Scott!

On the Keller-Ronon front, oh well. I feel sorry for the big guy, rejection hurts. Don't worry, the galaxy is populated by women who will comfort you. Wouldn't it be funny if the "other guy" she mentions wasn't McKay?

All we needed was Adam Baldwins character to return and we've got a "stargate:firefly" series :)

I haven't seen the episode but I hope the engineer talked with bad grammar

"It don't work no more capt'n"

Keller- who talks like that?
;)

That would be hilarious. But not without Nathan Fillion as a wisecracking Captain with a heart of gold. Brad Wright, only you can make this happen.

Yeah, the Traveller chick just shows up when they need a ship. Brilliant writing there. It's not even Laren, either.

Two parter wound up being a bit of waste of Daniel Jackson...oh, well.

Just got a chance to watch this... Not a bad resolution, but the Pegasus Asgard were defanged way too easily for my taste. It was all rather deflating, especially when they used the same wormhole trick Rodney used to get the Ancient ship out of the volcano.

Was the Traveller ship a redressing of a BSG ship interior? It sure looked like one, and given they film in the same place, I am curious to know.

It felt more like the one used in Fail Safe.

I didn't think it was a total waste they would've found the lab without him and at least they didn't kill him this time. :techman:

Average. Best part of the episode was Keller giving Ronen the brush... Despite that early on flirtation last season, I think his Neanderthal mentality turned her off in this episode (and I was glad she said she's interested in someone else -- after all the nonsense, it had been be Rodney! I'm getting sick of sci-fi shows torturing us with *will they or won't they*? (See: Enterprise, Firefly.)

I also liked Rodney back-peddling on his "respect" for Daniel (If you're not taking his respect to the grave, you can't have his respect!).
