So, what we walk away with was that Berman was clearly paying attention to what went on with DS9 and making decisions he felt was best for the show. Sometimes listening to his underlings, sometimes not.

It is true, Berman paid less attention to DS9 than he did TNG or Voyager. Once DS9 got rolling, TNG was preparing to end and transition onto movies. While Voyager was airing on a new network and required more oversight. DS9 simply got lost in the shuffle, though he was still meeting with Behr on a regular basis regarding the show's development. And since DS9 wasn't airing on a network, there was less interference from above, thus their writers had more freedom than Voyager's.

By now you have to know (as I know you've been told on more than one occasion) that S3 was filmed immediately after S2 finished filming and both seasons were written before S2 began filming. There is absolutely no way S3 happened as a reaction to S2. Indeed, some unsubstantiated sources suggest Matalas actually wrote S3 first and then was selected to do S2 since he was already on the payroll anyway.

I’ll say that I for one enjoyed about the first 2/3rds of season one. The rest was garbage.

He's paying attention to the live action shows, certainly.

But the animated one's were given free reign to do what they wanted. Which is a very standard Hollywood disconnect with higher ups not considering "animation" worthwhile.

Well that isn't so bad a title either I got to say.

To be fair, the title 'executive producer' seems to mean a bit less now than it did during the Berman era. Back then, that credit DID mean you had at least a fair amount of say in the show.

These days? Just look at the sheer number of people that have that credit, FAR more than a typical show 20 or more years ago. (Berman era shows would have, at most, three executive producers at the same time. Now? It's 6-8 people at once.) Some absolutely do have a lot of say, while others are a bit more ceremoniously an executive producer. Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth, for example... yes, they are the ones in charge of Roddenberry Entertainment, but do they really have much input?

Unless Michelle Paradise is part of the SFA's writers' room (which as far as I have heard or know, she was never announced as being part of it) since she has been credited as 'executive producer' in the first 2 episodes. (Haven't seen episode 3 yet. I'll do that when I get off work later. I also sincerely hope she is NOT actually part of the writers' room, because DISCO was already bad enough. We don't need DISCO 2.0.)

The SNW crossover was entirely Mike's doing.

And Prodigy was using existing digital assets to save money, same with the Whales.
