Not in any conceivable scope or scale. Star Trek never has nor ever will bring in the kind of money that those above listed franchises bring in.
The success of Star Trek 2009 was handled horribly. They waited too long to go for a sequel.
Marvel churned out Iron Man 1, Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, Avengers 1 and Iron Man 3 in that same timeframe.
Abrams, for all his faults, actually had a grand plan for Trek, but Paramount/CBS balked at that.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.
It has massive brand recognition but that doesn't necessary mean it has lots of fans. Characters like Kirk and Spock and the Starship Enterprise are known to people who have never watched any of the actual shows or maybe they have seen a few from time to time over the years.
Exactly what I mean.
I've never read nor watched Harry Potter but I know the basic story cuz it's so fucking huge and influential.
Same thing with Dragonball Z or One Piece before the Netflix adaptation.
Even if people aren't fans, they know who Kirk, Spock, Picard and Seven of Nine are.

'War fighter'? Such an idiotic way of saying soldier. Your hegseth is showing.
'War' College, just shown in SFA, which seems to be a different thing from regular Academy in the 31st century.
And the pic I posted are of these young students that are NOT in the 'war' college, that's why I said war fighter.
These arent soldiers, try to keep up beyond your stupid desire to politicize everything.
I dearly wish that were the case and we were looking at Lower Decks, Discovery and SNW carrying on comfortably beyond their five seasons, a long future ahead for Academy, the Star Trek United project on its way and a slew of Michelle Yeoh Section 31 films. This is sadly not the world we live in.
As I said above it's all CBS /Paramount's fault.
Like the only show that even charted was PIC S03 for multiple episodes.
And whether anyone accepts it or not, we all know why.

Maybe?

I barely know Dragonball Z and confuse it with Naruto constantly. No clue what One Piece is. No clue the story of Harry Potter beyond "Chosen One/Hero with a Thousand Faces" rip off, and that hilarious Amazon review insisting that Tolkien ripped of Rowling when writing Harry Potter.

Kirk and Spock and maybe Picard. Seven? I'd be shocked if there's knowledge outside science fiction circles.

Yes, I know that. It was shortsighted of both CBS and Paramount to kill what could have been their Marvel.
Perhaps, but you are making huge assumptions about the desirability and simplicity of the two corporations cooperating with one another. Certainly, Les Moonves had little interest pursuing Star Trek beyond keeping the old material in circulation, and his roadmap for CBS led elsewhere. He didn't want to be in the business you want. (Not until he needed a pretext to launch a streaming service.)

I'm aware of what the war college is. It's stands to reason that Starfleet cadets get complimentary training at the college because the galaxy is still a hostile place and the change from warriors to explorers is slow. There are multiple different ways to describe Starfleet cadets getting combat training, War Fighter just seems like a cringe choice to use. But you do you :guffaw:

Garth of Izar is a human, just born on the human colony world of Izar.

Were the Psychiatrists confused by his apparent immortality?

That would mean the student from the fifth dimension is attending the Academy with the President of Earth! :D

Those guys are not artificial.

They are a lifeforms comprised of photonic energy.

At his most evolved that Doctor is still a computer program on a server, inside a wall or inside his mobile emitter, who then acts out and receives information/stimulus via a photonic probe (I want to say poppet) hanging out in the real world.

The first Iron Man and Hulk were 2008 films which actually predate Trek XI. Also, despite Marvel's involvement in both, they were produced by different studios, Iron Man was Paramount while Hulk was Universal.
Abrams, for all his faults, actually had a grand plan for Trek, but Paramount/CBS balked at that.
Review your history. The reason STID took so long was because Orci and Lindelof stopped writing the script while they argued for an entire year over whether to include Khan or not. That's not Paramount's fault.

Paramount could have fired and replaced them for their inability to get the project going. At that stage it would have been less work than when Disney fired the Solo directors.

Regardless, Orci and Lindelof's argument does not reflect the fact that Paramount was "against Abrams's grand plan." The fact they sat back and allowed Abrams's handpicked writers spend an entire year arguing and not writing if anything shows they were supportive of Abrams's alleged "grand plan."

Things I disliked:

1) The language/writing & slang used. Cringeworthy. Orgami Chicken? Payback is a bitch? I'm Khionian, bitch? Barf.

2) The cartoonish level of Nuk Braka as a villian.

3) The cartoonish level of Lura Throk as the drill sargeant. Is it SFA or the Marine corps?

4) The general militization of SFA.

5) The silliness of letting Nus Braka drift away instead of recovering the pod. Man, is that dumb.

6) Showing off Caleb's guns for 10 minutes, showing him kicking all kinds of butt, then he gets exhausted doing 3 pushups eith a duffle bag in his back? Barf.

7) Ake quits over separating a child from their mother but openly laments not being able to transport the intruders into space & does not hesitate to kill everyone on the other ship.

I'm not saying this as a new Trek thing. Kirk did threaten to wipe out an entire planet in A,Taste of Armageddeon, after all. But Ake's morals & ethics appear pretty plot specific.
