But, that's been a trend since TNG it felt like. K'heleyer, Batel in the Romulan Prison Camp, Simon Tarses, Sela, then Tora Ziyal, The Sisko, and on and on.

Oh yeah, I can jive with that. It does make sense on a certain level and it’s nothing new to Trek, but still it somehow feels like such a fannish thing to have.

He is his own father. He will travel back in time and make love with his Mom, who will then give birth to him.

I'm guessing they mean semi-episodic, with varying tones from episode to episode.

I don't think they're going to go that far, considering we know there's a seasonal antagonist. But I do hope the individual episodes...feel like episodes. Because I'm getting tired of streaming series that try and set it up structurally like a padded movie rather than taking advantage of the TV format.

Seems unlikely since its totally different show runners and writers. They have different ideas.

I'm mildly disappointed Tilly's only in one episode of S1, but not surprised. As far as other Disco Characters: that leaves Reno, who I like but isn't a favorite; and Vance, who I liked as Burnham's Boss, but I'm not sure how that translates here. So, at this point, the pre-existing character I'm looking the most forward to is the Doctor.

Of the new characters, the one I'm most interested in is Holly Hunter's.

Paul Giamatti? I feel like that's going to be "love it or hate it".

I wouldn't know. I don't watch Strange New Worlds (Carol Kane has some serious chops. I'll give her that.)

Just something less jarring than a drawl would be nice.
