View attachment 47850Hmm,what is this list exactly? A lot of various characters on it.
Torres, Rios, Freeman, Culber, Decker, Harriman, Dax, Gomez, Terrell, Mariner, AMBASSADOR GARAK...
Memorial for former faculty who have passed away?
Landau adds, "It's wish fulfillment. Every week it's about a new part of coming of age. One week that can be a prank, war erupts another week, a romance begins another week, we encounter an alien species for the first time and we don't know what the hell we're doing [another week]. But at the end of every episode, what we want our audience to feel is, 'I want to go to Starfleet Academy.' Even in the deepest, darkest depths of character problems and drama, you get such a good feeling from watching this show [of] how much you want to be there so badly."
Until Discovery was found, he would've been considered lost with the rest of the crew, 900 years ago.
Though, in all honesty, it is just more canon splooge.
Wasn't their entire existence (not just where they went) classified to protect the sphere data?
I don't think anyone had them on a 'lost heroes' list during those 900 years.
Seems a relatively minor Easter egg. A mix of names we know and names we don’t. If it had been nothing but known characters, thenMemorial for former faculty who have passed away?
This just isn't for me. I don't need to constantly be reminded of past Star Trek.

I could see it as “splooge”. Including rank seems a mistake. All these characters topped off at the rank listed?
Well let's be exceedingly frank here. There are a sizable number of planets with human looking (ie no prosthetics of any kind showing any biological difference from Earth's look like) aliens on them that have been presented on Trek for the last 60 years or so. And that doesn't even take into account the planets that were colonized by actually Earthers that have been shown on Trek for 60 or so years.I know it's likely at least in part for budgetary reasons, but I'm really, really not liking how human-heavy Starfleet Academy is.
It's a flaw which earlier depictions had as well, but considering Earth just rejoined, Starfleet in the 32nd century should be way, way more alien-dominated than what we've seen in the past.
