Well let's be exceedingly frank here. There are a sizable number of planets with human looking (ie no prosthetics of any kind showing any biological difference from Earth's look like) aliens on them that have been presented on Trek for the last 60 years or so. And that doesn't even take into account the planets that were colonized by actually Earthers that have been shown on Trek for 60 or so years.

I should say that before DIS Season 3 had finished I developed this headcanon that it would be cool if in the future of the fallen Federation of the 32nd century, we found out Starfleet was led by Klingons, Cardassians, Ferengi, etc.

I think it would have said something beautiful about the universalist values of the Federation propagating beyond Earth, and being carried on even as it stumbled into isolationism. That ultimately, the Federation was an idea, not a bloodline.

The grey didn't work in Discovery season 3, but I'm hoping the backgrounds will be colourful enough they'll work here.

Jett Reno looks like a superhero in that uniform.

I really, really wish it had the vibe of the 2009 movie academy scenes, I don't think it's the direction they're going in but I'll give it a shot.

I love that I'm finally like "OK, maybe this is for me" and you have a critique. I've often felt like we've been on opposite ends with this show's potential.

Buxom lady Jem’Hadar was definitely the most interesting element! I’ll take any scraps of justice for DS9.

I’ve been thoroughly disinterested by the mere thought of this show, but it looks rather stunning visually and I’ll definitely give it a shot in the hope that it’s a pleasant surprise. Reno and the Doctor ought to have a delightful interplay at the very least.

After the disaster that was losing James T. Kirk on his maiden voyage as an Enterprise captain I can see Harriman topping out as a Captain and not progressing to a flag officer's insignia. The stigma of the most revered hero in Starfleet dying on Harriman's first mission as 1701-B captain may have been more than enough to follow him for the rest of his career.
