The hilarious part of this obsession with rank is that it reflects a 21st century attitude of power and position and that being a captain (but not an admiral because that's bad) than a more evolved work to better one's self.
We do know that there is a ship named after him still in service in the 32nd century.I'm sort of wondering if they decided to roll with the possibility that Nog, uh, had something happen to him a la the DS9 documentary's hypothetical eighth-season idea.
The names and ranks actually prove that Starfleet Academy takes place in a different universe that does not interfere with the Sacred Timeline.
Never! That was a typo. It's suppose to read as ADM BARRY KIM. Other dude in Starfleet who just happened to have a similar name. Hopefully Starfleet will fix the typo so our beloved Barry can get the honor he is due.![]()
People who just want to chill and do whatever don't join Starfleet.Starfleet seems like the kinda place where if you want to chase ranks cool, but you can also just chill wherever and do the job you like if you don't want to be in charge.
Starfleet Rank was an indicator of trust and accomplishment, not power and position. The hilarious part of this obsession with rank is that it reflects a 21st century attitude of power and position and that being a captain (but not an admiral because that's bad) than a more evolved work to better one's self.
People who just want to chill and do whatever don't join Starfleet.
In fact, Starfleet is pretty specifically the place for people who can't just chill and do whatever.
Not every accomplishment needs to be rewarded with more rank and responsibility. Otherwise why wasn't O'Brien promoted? Riker? Bashir?Starfleet Rank was an indicator of trust and accomplishment, not power and position.
Which is absurd. And being an Admiral is bad because Starfleet is full of people who want to be out there doing things instead of being relegated to overseeing others who are out there doing things.
If Nog died in a heroic deed while a Lieutenant then why should it matter?
Actually, Bashir was promoted. He was a Lt. j.g. for seasons 1-3, then we see him with the two full pips of a full Lt. in the 4th season premiere, "THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR". (Same as Jadzia, though she went from Lt. to Lt. Cmdr.)Not every accomplishment needs to be rewarded with more rank and responsibility. Otherwise why wasn't O'Brien promoted? Riker? Bashir?
Which is absurd.
We do not see the spelling of the full name ‘Kim’, the exact name is obscured, so this could even be an ancestor of Tilly from the mirror universe?![]()
It's real.
TNG regularly had elderly background actors with Lieutenant's pips.To be fair, in the Tapestry Timeline, Picard had been chilling as a Lieutenant JG for nearly forty years.
PS, the Jem’Hadar lady does not actually look like a Jem’Hadar? Has this been confirmed?
Also, is Robert Picardo *definitely* playing the EMH Doctor from Voyager/Prodigy? I know that there were talks of a crossover between Doctor Who and Star Trek, perhaps Picardo is actually a Time Lord? I’m not sure how Billie Piper would potentially fit into an academy show, though…. Unless they wanted to reference the Time War and bring in a few Daleks?![]()
TWOK had a cadet that looked in his 50sTNG regularly had elderly background actors with Lieutenant's pips.
You cannot resist the power of the dark side, but that's fine as there's lots of great Star Wars out there.I really did not want this show, but I guess that I don’t *have* to watch it if I do not want to, this Trek is probably meant for a new generation, not for me, but I will watch one episode. If I do not like this new show then I am going to start watching Star Wars all the way from the very beginning and join a Star Wars BBS. I have never actually seen Star Wars, so this could be the Trek show that pushes me over to the ‘dark side’, if you excuse the pun.
Ahhh that Makes sense.Gina Yashere is playing Commander Lura Thok, a Klingon/Jem Hadar hybrid and the Athena's XO.
Picardo has mentioned in a couple of interviews about it being the same EMH in Prodigy and him being an Academy lecturer being a natural development from his role as mentor to the Protostar crew.
O'Brien was a non-com, we have no idea how promotions work for them. Not every accomplishment needs to be rewarded with more rank and responsibility. Otherwise why wasn't O'Brien promoted? Riker? Bashir?
Actually it makes perfect sense.Which is absurd.
Does this mean that the EMH has likely changed his name to reflect his new role and profession? The character could now be called ‘The Lecturer’ instead of ‘The Doctor’? Or as Ace in Doctor Who would say ‘The Professor’. This could be a wink/nod to Doctor Who , should they not want to do a direct crossover between the two shows and keep the link discreet?Picardo has mentioned in a couple of interviews about it being the same EMH in Prodigy and him being an Academy lecturer being a natural development from his role as mentor to the Protostar crew.
So...they turn evil? For a lot of people self worth is measured by feelings of accomplishment, and Starfleet as an organization has most of their accomplishments originating from from people who are out there on the front lines doing things.
So who is to say Nog didn't refuse a promotion?O'Brien was a non-com, we have no idea how promotions work for them.
Riker refused multiple promotions over the course of TNG.
Bashir was promoted from Lieutenant Junior Grade to full Lieutenant between seasons 3-4 of DS9.
Consistent with the previous canon:The Duty! Loyalty! Service! bit in the trailer seems *very* mirror universe like…. All that was missing was a little bit at the end saying…. To the Terran Empire!!!
TOS had Ensigns or Crewmen who looked like they'd served in the Eugenics Wars and were still collecting pensions.TNG regularly had elderly background actors with Lieutenant's pips.
Why would it be different? You move up in rank and responsibility.O'Brien was a non-com, we have no idea how promotions work for them.
