News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

And what do you know, they look just like humans with no expensive prosthetics!

EDIT: Angst? Didn’t notice any.
The Klingon forehead design, while a good shape, looks very plastic. SNW Klingons have this thing going on too.

Comfort and other considerations could be the reasoning, but it doesn't look as organic as Berman-era Klingons.

Saw the teaser... a bit too teenage angsty for my tastes, until the show proves me wrong, but I'm looking forward to it... Molly Hunter's voice struck me as a little odd--like a female Cartman tonality...just please, no 90210 in space... And hopefully ratings will justify a return to TOS as the next Trek installment.

You know your getting old when one worries a Star Trek Academy show will be like 90210. Might want to update that reference to Riverdale or Glee. :)

Does anybody remember "Sweet Valley High"?

I rolled my eyes at the reference to James T Kirk shoved down your throat within seconds. Then it just went down, down, down...

This is exactly the same bullshit that makes me hate most of modern Trek. A snake eating its own tail.

Kirk. Data. Troi. Kim. Sito Jaxa. etc. etc. Sisko! Alien breaking the fourth wall by humming the tune.

All utter bullshit.

And I used to call it fan wank, but what true fan wants this?

What's a false fan?
I dunno, but there are at least three kinds of true fans I'm aware of.

Type 1: Annoyed at seeing recognisable names on a wall in the background because Star Trek can't stop reminding people that it's a franchise with multiple series.

Type 2: Annoyed that they're telling us that the talented and ambitious Nog never made captain, even though he did in The Visitor's timeline and he has a ship named after him. Also annoyed that they're implying Sisko never came back, even though it was pretty important to Avery Brooks that he didn't leave his kid without a dad.

Type 3: Actually pretty happy about it all. Hey they used the TOS movie font for the title just like the '90s video game!

Oh please spare us the 'tru fan' bullshit. We've heard all of this nonsense ad nauseum about every series since TNG.

No one says you have to like SFA but you don't have the right to denigrate those who are excited about it.

I've been watching Star Trek for 35 of my 43 years and I can assure you I want this.

Nice Interview with Robert Picardo, Holly Hunter and Sandro Rosta. Holly Hunter sounds so genuinely excited to be involved.

#1. This character is half-Jem'Hadar, half-Klingon, so not cloned. Different genders can result if you don't create beings in a cloning facility with strictly controlled genetic codes.

It's even easier than that if you presume her father was a Jem'Hadar, TBH. Even though they were all lab-grown in DS9, we didn't get any idea that they were sterilized. Why bother to sterilize them if you don't hatch out any females?

The "wall of fame" makes me deeply uncomfortable.

I know it was meant as a nice easter egg, but by including the names of so many well-known characters, it means we know whose careers end up cut short. Though I suppose it's realistic that not everyone can max out at admiral, or even captain,

More troubling, the inclusion of many characters we knew who died (like Red Squad, Sito, Yar) pretty strongly suggests this isn't just a list of famous Starfleet officers, but those who died in the course of duty. So Riker never gets to retire for realsies. Tom Paris, Bashir, Torres, Nog - all of them end up dying in the course of duty at some point offscreen.
