I've heard lots of great things about Starfield's scope and physics engine, but nothing much about the story or whether the sidequests are relevant worldbuilding or just fetchquests.
I happened by there because I needed to buy some med packs. I was like "yes!" You can also get a side mission for him. So far he's the only doctor that I've encountered who does it.
Well i just wanted to try this game to make sure it was running on the series s, and bang, 2 hours vanish in a instant.......i am going to be playing this for years, it's what i wanted, Skyrim/fallout and ED all rolled into one......and how they got it to run on the series S this good must be down to witchcraft and magic because it should not be running this great on this small box....oh and what i have heard of the soundtrack it is very epic space movie sounding, i was getting Martian chronical vibes from it wandering across it wandering across that first bleak windswept alien planet......:-)
Ok seriously Barrett and his judgmental AI can bite me. I honestly want to smack him. Yesterday he got pissed when I talked
and this eve/morn he's bitching at me because he assumes the question I asked
was for anything other to get information out of him and possibly use his answer to incriminate him/learn his plans and motives. I don't mind companions having a morality but his is 'talk to someone I don't like or say something I don't like and I'm gonna act like a self-righteous scold before you even make a decision to do anything' while at the same time giving me no clue BEFORE I do one of the many things or speak to one of the many people his high holiness disagrees with is annoying as hell.
AND because my character has the empath trait his random bitchiness is actually having an impact. (And yes, I'm about to dump him back at the lodge but gah this is annoying. Sarah was a lot easier to deal with.)

One funny easter egg... On Neon if you visit the Doctor he will say "Please state the nature of your medical emergency".
I've noticed a couple of Trek references, there was a Lt Torres on the rescue mission (I forget what system)/
I've clocked even more hours now, a lot on New Atlantis, and honestly it's stunning - especially at night - I might just be easier to please.
I haven't had any issues in dark areas. Just super bright areas when you enter the very first time and the bright areas near the train. Like this:
^^That was before I modded in DLSS and a ReShade. It looks a lot better around the city now even when I get that light but that one area near the NAT still looks worse than it should. Honestly, it reminded me of Skyrim before turning the ENB on and after. Before turning one on the game looks 30 years old but after turning one on it looks modern.

Because, other than the faces it looks fine to me. But, I am probably way easier to please, since I still play on my NES.

EDIT: Uh yeah that looks awful for a brand new game. It would be fine if it was on NES or even on Switch. But it's not fine at all for PC on ultimate.

Once again the graphics of games is a nonissue to me. So, I apologize at my confusion as to me it looks fine overall.
Starfield looks like a lot of fun to me. I would not mind it if it looked half as good graphics wise.
So far, I'm liking what I'm seeing. Have they put out any post-release patches yet?

I can tolerate bad graphics on a low end system or in an old game but when it's supposed to look shiny and new it should look shiny and new, especially given what they're charging.

I'm not one for "shiny and new." I see your point of view, but most times graphics are not why I play games

Me either but I want a game to look its best and this is supposed to be a next gen game. There's nothing at all wrong with those screenshots if you're running on a last gen console and a mid tier game but that is not what a current gen AAA title should look like unless you're running it on low settings on an older system. But like I said earlier, it's one segment and I've been able to fix a lot of it by modding in DLSS.
