StarCraft 2?

Also the ranking system is stupid. And they do a poor job of documenting it. So I'm #1 in a gold league... what does that even mean? As far as I can tell it means that I'm actually a crappy gold league player because otherwise I would've been promoted before I amassed enough points to rise to the top of my league.
Yeah I don't even know. It's wierd. The idea for leagues was to separate player pools to match skills levels, but they don't even do that, that's a completely different match making system... so I don't really know what the point of that is anymore besides having a cool Diamond badge on your profile.

I agree that leagues are completely stupid and best ignored, but the different divisions work pretty well. The point system also works well, but only once you've reached diamond. Before that, just ignore the point system.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but is anyone else disappointed that Heart of the Swarm is reported to be released in Q2 2012? On the plus side that should give me plenty of time to play through StarCraft, Brood War and Wings of Liberty a few more times again before HotS is released.

Delays or long development times really don't bother me. They result in a better game, giving me more bang for my buck, and I have plenty of other games I can play while I wait.

For all its faults, you can't really say Starcraft II is a poor value even at 60 bucks. Even if you only do single player or multi, there's a lot there.

So what... 40 bucks a pop? I wouldn't be surprised if they sell these things as standalones at full price. Either way they're not going to be cheap.

Splitting the campaign into three parts was sleazy enough. Hopefully they won't push their luck.

That's the thing though, unless they make the expansions necessarily to play multiplayer like Brood Wars (but this time fragmenting the base into three parts), I think most of the pro players won't even bother with the expansions outside of considering them an interesting diversion.

I'd expect the expansions to be designed around multiplayer first and foremost. Brood War drastically improved multiplayer with the addition of Medics, Corsairs, and Dark Templars. The StarCraft II expansions should do the same. I'd be very surprised if pro gamers didn't immediately migrate to the expansions.

Starcraft commentary is clearly opening all sorts of doors to new careers, at least for Husky.... ;)
