I find the German language editions of episodes I-III to be much more tolerable, than the originals.

It's out on digital today, at least in Canada and the US, not sure about other countries

Wish Disney was doing the same for this as they are for Frozen 2 and putting it out on Disney + early. sigh... Money Money Money

Rewatched TROS last night with my wife. Despite the flaws I really enjoyed it. Palpatine's return doesn't bother me, nor do I think it shortchanges ROTJ as much as I have heard argued. My wife had the observation that Palpatine survived like Maul did-through pure rage. Which perpetuates the cycle between the light and the dark.

I think it is far more reflective of the framework that George set up than it first appears.

Would I do it differently? Yup, and so would my wife. But, we both were thoroughly enjoying and discussing the film last night.

Saw the movie last night with my wife.
Movie was better then TLJ, more like with ROTJ, some good moments some bad.

Such a shame Fisher died before she could film her scènes, I didn't found her special in the OT but she was great in this movie.

And poor Chewie and Lando, to loose everyone from the OT and stil keep going on, like Leia Lando was great in all his scenes.

I found Palpatine still being around little bit disappointing, It made felt Anakin's sacrifice and being the chosen one bland.
And It felt like there was a lack of true plan for the trilogy.

I think it’s mentioned in a deleted scene. But it’s identified as a kyber crystal in the visual guide. The Ersos did a lot of research into kyber crystals and Jyn’s mother was a member of a religion devoted to the Force. The necklace is engraved with “Trust in the Force”. I have a replica.

Are you sure It is a replica? It looks real

And when we hear all the voices of the Jedi, does It mean that Ashoka is dead?
Maybe, maybe not. It's ambiguous.

By rights, most of the voices we hear are from Jedi that shouldn't have been able to retain their individuality in the cosmic force after death. The only ones that we know did are Qui-Gon, Yoda, Kenobi, Anakin & Luke (aka: the "force ghosts".) Since there's a bunch in there that should be gone for good (Luminara, Aayla Secura, Kanan & Windu), it's possible it's not actually them but the force itself speaking with their voices and memories (time and space mean nothing to the force, after all.) It's also possible that Ahsoka is still alive and communing from elsewhere, lending her strength with the others.
All that said, Ahsoka would be in her 70's by this point so it's certainly possible that she's dead by this point (it's not been established if Togruta have a longer or shorter lifespan than humans.)

I think they left it intentionally vague so future storytellers have some wiggle room.

Yeah, they were disembodied Force spirits speaking to her from across the barrier between the netherworld of the Force and the physical reality. A shame. A live Ahsoka returning to action to help the Resistance defeat the First Order in Episode IX might have been a fun thing.

Just one with the Force....

Though with the Force portals thing, there is the chance she or even Ezra might do a bit of time jumping...end up in the High Republic era, Old Republic era, or even past the Sequel Trilogy events.

There's plenty of precedent in Star Wars for a still living person to manifest as a voice in someone's head. It's not just a force ghost thing; Luke & Vader at the end of Empire, a rather similar deleted scene in Jedi both leap to mind, as does Palpatine to Kylo in this very movie and apparantly it's been going on his whole life.

Possibly the most apt comparison though is Yoda talking to, appearing before, and even apparently manifesting visions for Ezra, Kanan and later Ahsoka in the Lothal temple while he was sat on a log on Dagobah (he even manages to freak out the inquisitors.)
So maybe while all this is going on, Ahsoka is hanging out at some force nexus out there in the galaxy and feels Rey reaching out on Exogol (presumably the location of another such nexus) and lends her strength to the effort.

Or she's dead. Either way works.

Social distancing and working from home throughout this global crisis does have a few pluses. After getting my 4K UHD copy yesterday, I was able to rewatch The Rise of Skywalker for the first time since opening night in December today. The rewatch certainly didn't resolve all my problems with TROS, but I do feel that a second viewing makes it a little less... overwhelming. I think there's still a lot going on and that some plotlines suffer. I feel that the fakeouts with Chewie and Threepio could have been handled better and I honestly still hate the return of Palpatine here BUT its all not nearly as bad as it was back in December. I look forward to watching the documentary on the disc tomorrow.
