A Skywalker doing something life-changing and then afterwards disappearing or otherwise leaving, the survivors having to clean up the messes they created? That wouldn't happen. ;)

And....Rey is pregnant, everyone knows that right?

Yeah..... No.

I agree with a lot of what your saying actually, and despite recognizing the flaws in this movie, I find it highly enjoyable. Then again, I also enjoyed TLJ, despite its flaws.

But pregnant? No. Sorry.

You guys!

Just watched it again, and well...Bens hand is on her womb when he heals her, the whole force diad thing ‘the power to give life itself’ or something, then they kiss and she goes to tatooine...place of the virgin birth that started the whole Skywalker clan in the first place. The symbolism is all there. Rey is preggers with Bentoo Skywalker.

Oh. And apparently Rose Tico is muscling in on Maz’s fella.

(Put It this way, there’s more on screen evidence for both of these things than StormPilot, and certainly more than there was for other things the plot came to depend on.)

I found knowing more or less what was going to happen oddly helped, because going back you could see the hints and clues to things shown later in the film that were not explained, even when it was questioned in the film. The telling that happens later to explain thing to characters makes sense because the other characters have shown off the skills before, or a skill needed later in the film is presented earlier so that it doesn't just come from nowhere.

It also helps that Rey is actually studying and training to be a Jedi, thus odd powers are likely learned that way, rather than during the first film, where she's learning by seeing/feeling what Kylo Ren is doing and imitating it until it works.

I found that. Lots of stuff that seemed annoying or rule of cool in the first half hour or so paid off in the second, and they even retroactively smooth some of TLJs issues.

In the TFA™ Rey™ watched and felt how Kylo™ was doing the Force™ ability stuff. How else would you learn mind stuff, then imitating what was shown and done unto you. Both Obi-Wan™ and Yoda™ just told Luke™ to reach out with his feelings, not really showing him anything and yet he still got it. So I would say the way Rey™ did it was even better and allowed for a quicker route to learning the abilities. Luke™ was able to block the bolts from the training droid with little to no real knowledge of the Force™

The amount of popcorn, candy and drinks that would have been thrown at the screen had they come out and said that would have set some kind of Guinness World record. JJ Abrams would have had to go into witness protection.

A lot of the times Jedi learn something new all that‘s required is a vague idea of what they want and a bit of confidence.
If they don’t have the confidence, a confrontation with their doubts in the shape of a dark side apparition will do it.
And in some cases of harder things like becoming one with the force at death a few years of mediation will do the trick.
