Okay, so a buddy of mine actually bought this thing; We're still friends.
I sincerely did try to give it another shot. I made it to the part where Poe DaMoron starts hurling yo mamma jokes at General Hugs.

Is there a grade lower than an F

Probably Grade Z as in last in quality, reserved for anything with Ed Wood's name attached to it, Star Trek: Nemesis, Batman and Robin (1997), and 2017's The Mummy.

I stand behind my F.

From a Star Wars fan.

And I had it as an F as well for quite awhile. But I implore you go back and rewatch it with an open mind, and pay close attention to much of the dialogue between Luke and Rey and Kylo. I’m not saying the movie doesn’t have flaws or things that Rian should have never even dreamed of putting in the film (cough, Canto Bight and Poe’s prank call, cough) but it’s a better film than I gave it credit for

I paid very close attention the first time.
To me, that is not Luke Skywalker and this film shits on everything I have known and cherished about Star Wars for the last forty one years of my life.
I can appreciate your enjoyment of this film and may even envy it, but I found it to be such a miserable and soul crushing experience that my mind will forever reject it as anything deserving of the name Star Wars. And that is my right.

How is Luke Skywalker coming to terms with the failure of the Jedi and recognizing that he can learn from their past mistakes while still honoring their legacy and having the Jedi continue through Rey so horrible? How is giving Luke the most powerful force ability and moment ever seen in a Star Wars movie bad? I agree that I didn’t like some of the bitterness, and it still doesn’t quite jive with me that he’d think of striking a mere boy down in cold blood. Then again, should Mace Windu have risen to strike Sidious? “Its not the Jedi way”. No it’s not, yet Luke stopped himself. How about when Luke lost his control and hammered Vader into submission? Was he a bad person then? Not all of Luke’s characterization was off the map like I initially discerned. Some yes, but not all

I’m not asking these questions to rain on your pity party, I genuinely want to know why. Last jedi is not the best Star Wars but it made me think more than i have about Star Wars in a long time

Same here and I speak as someone who has written fan fiction, thought about the Jedi, and how they fit in to the galactic world as a whole, probably way than is healthy. While my friends wanted to be Han Solo, I always wanted to be Luke Skywalker. TLJ doesn't really diminish him in my eyes. If anything, it makes him more relatable.

The movie is an unshinable turd. There is no reconciling that fact and I cannot be pulled into a pointless debate about the inane details of the story line.
If any of you wish to waste your time and imaginations playing connect the dots, trying to finish the job that Rihanne Johnson was overpaid to do in the first place, that's your choice. I see it for what it is; The floundering of a studio that has no idea what they have or what to do with it.
Now you'll have to excuse me. I'm getting emotional.

Nope, just gas.

No need to be rude. You could at least spell his name right.

With Solo coming out in a few days, people will have another Star Wars movie to hate on. I'm getting bored hating on TLJ.

Why do you? What's the point of talking about something you hate if nothing will change your mind?

I could understand if it was political, if the thing you hate infringed on your rights, effected your personally etc. But it's a a story, a fictional one at that.

It just seems like a waste of time to me.

I was joking. I didn’t hate the movie. I just found it disappointing.

And my god daughter has the right to demand chocolate ice cream. And endlessly whine about how ‘she’s hungry’ for hours on end after she threw both a huff, and her perfectly good vanilla ice cream in the garbage.

Doesn’t mean she’s getting what she wants. Be that ice cream, or sympathy.

May I suggest you take a leaf from the seven-year-old’s book, have a good sleep, and just move on?

Ah. So you’re just here for attention and validation then. Not to participate in the various conversations.

And to amuse me with this latest attempt to take the high ground. “Look at you fools, wasting your time with your ‘discussion’ and ‘imaginations’. Why don’t you just bang on the one note of ‘this movie kicked me in my childhood nads,’ for months on end?”

Pssst, I gotta secret for ya...just by the mere act of being on this board, you’re wasting your time. It’s not like we’re exactly curing cancer or anything. Assuming Bonz isnt secretly using us a guinea pigs in some grand Machiavellian plot...:shifty:

You know, I was pretty ambivalent to the Porgs in the actual movie. They weren’t a highlight for me, but I didn’t hate them either.

But ohmygodIwantoneothese.

Yep, TFA and TLJ were both big budget fan fiction. Hence it's understandable that you like it.
