Star Wars:The Clone Wars S3......so far

I think losing Ahsoka would have just made him snap.
I could buy that as a legit reason for him snapping more than that idiocy with Padme. However, I'm still rooting for it to be something short of Ahsoka's death. If Anakin thinks the Jedi treated her unfairly, especially after she and Anakin busted their butts for them in their dumbass war, that would fuel his massive resentment of them. She doesn't need to die.

And it could be anything: she falls to the Dark Side and the Jedi tell Anakin to kill her. He refuses. She falls and somehow is redeemed (probably with a lot of help from Anakin) but the Jedi don't trust her, consider her tainted, and cast her into exile. Anakin is furious at their close-mindedness. Or heck, maybe she runs off and joins the Seppys. All sorts of possibilities, this is going to be fun! :D

I still think they created the character to survive for the live action series. They have set it up too perfectly.
Yup, even with the live action series cancelled, they could keep going with animation style.

She'd be in her mid-teens, one of a mere handful of Jedi survivors, cast into a wild, terrible galaxy on her own, maybe with a bit of help every now and then from Obi-Wan or Yoda, constantly on the run and fearful that someone will figure out her dangerous secret...

They've even started lining up a few characters of similar age who would still be around: Jango Fett (whatever became of him?) and the son of Padme's Seppy friend (definitely future Imperial Navy material, yet still smitted with that hot Jedi girl he met once a long time ago).

She might know the identity and location of her former master's supposedly dead children. She'd definitely know the secret of who Vader really is. A confrontation is inevitable.

This is just all too perfect to let go of so quickly.

I don't think Lucas really knows what to do with the live action show to be honest least of all using Ahoska. I have kind of thought since the start that Ahsoka some how will survive and that Anakin won't be aware that she has.

I am not that certain... They already said, they had the skripts for Season 1 of the live-action show. The problem was the funding. I believe Lucas when he says that an episode would cost 25 million to produce. Remember it's not StarGate or Star Trek we are talking about! People expect a certain style from Star Wars (many locations, much action), and I bet those teleplays translate that style. But that the problem. Effects are still very expansive, and if you want to create a live action Coruscant for an episode... it will cost you very much money.

Fair enough. My main objection to the other member was about using Ahoska as a character in the live action series. I don't think Lucas would do that with her. Perhaps for some other media outlet like the books or comics but not the show.

There's what Lucas thinks people expect, and what everyone else does. I wouldn't mind if the live action show looked no better than the 35-y-o Ep IV.

I seriously doubt the teenie girl in a kid's show, the audience identifying character, is going to become truly evil.

$25 million per episode? Ten times the cost of a typical TV show? That's ridiculous. There'd be no need. You could achieve results just as good with a lot less money if you spent it wisely.

$25 Million is crazy. I remember a good while back that Lucas said he would make this series in a more tradtional way. You could make a movie for 5-6 episodes. No matter what the quality they can make a great series on far less than that and since we won't be seeing these on the big screen I think they don't have to blow it on the little details.

inb4 set harth's brain explosion.

It looks like they're fundamentally changing the nature of the force and the direction of Anakin's arc.

As for what we saw specifically...

I would guess the children and the planet are physical embodiments that reflect the state of the force rather than literally the light and dark sides. What I don't get is what the consequences will be if the children get loose, if they are light and dark, and they are equal, they would seemingly cancel each others influence without the need of an arbiter. Given the galaxy is already at war I can't discern what the change of the tone of the conflict between the two would affect externally. It seems beyond the shadow of a doubt now that the balance of the force refers to a balance between light and dark side, and that there are discrete sides.

Don't really think I can review this episode on its own, though I am tremendously thankful bat-boy didn't turn out to be some kind of force-vampire

A very promising part one. The alien world/ship was a really interesting and different setting. I liked the fantastical element that was greater than just clones versus droids. I liked the direct references to Anakin's darkness.

Wild. There were some gorgeous visuals here, and an intriguingly different kind of story. A lot of character introspection, courtesy of guest stars Liam Neeson, Pernilla August, and Future Ahsoka. (I guess those Togruta head things never stop growing, do they?) A rather revisionist take on the whole "bring balance to the Force" prophecy, though.

The coolest part was when the Father took Anakin's lightsaber point in his hand and pushed it away and back into the hilt. Never seen that before.

Tonight's episode...

Awesome episode. It did not disappoint.

-First of all, incredible visuals. They really outdid themselves. I especially liked the scene where Anakin and company were walking around the corner of the mountain.

-Hearing Liam Neeson again as Qui-Gon was a treat although I thought Pernilla August's scene with Anakin was a highlight. Fantastic scene, with Anakin being as honest as you're ever going to see them. I love how "Shmi's" voice changed and she turned into something horrible.

-Getting to see older Ahsoka was great and opens up some interesting questions.

-Sam Witwer was rocking as The Son. Whether it's BSG or Smallville, this guy always brings his A-game. Top-of-the-line voice work from this episode.

-The prophecy of the Chosen One is fascinating but problematic. Problamatic in the sense that it could possibly negate what Anakin did at the end of ROTJ. Was that bringing balance to the Force? But there are two episodes left so we'll see how this turns out.

For the record, I don't blame Anakin for leaving. Balance or not, the thought of spending God knows how long on a planet babysitting two brats is not appealing. Would have been a good penance for Anakin had he survived Return of the Jedi though

I agree with what you said, Christopher. Definitely a different type of episode with a lot of character introspection. It's also a chance to see the power of the Force on a large scale. Vader did once say that the ability to destroy a planet was insignificant next to the power of the Force.

I like how this episode had nothing to do with the war. I had hoped they'd do at least one episode a season away from the war and Filoni on a previous commentary said that he liked doing that too.

This arc must've been why Dan Wallace wasn't allowed to have it in the Jedi Path (and why it's literally torn out). Awesome episode. We're finally getting into some exciting stuff after a lackluster first half.

Interesting observation on the IGN review...the writer was curious as to the whereabout of The Mother. It's a good point but Anakin didn't have a father so maybe just having a Father, Son, and Daughter makes sense. Especially since they are supposed to represent both sides of the Force and the unifying side.
