Star Wars:The Clone Wars S3......so far

I just read the written preview for next week's finale, and they were saying that this one is supposed to give us an idea of what next season is going to be like in terms of scope, and feel. It sounds like they'll be going bigger, and more epic, so perhaps it will be the Outer Rim Sieges.

In B4 the nest of Gundarks! :techman:

Next season is the last? I'd read something about season 5 and now I have no idea. Although the clone wars only lasted 3 years I can see them getting a lot of longevity around this series, since it often goes in different directions with different characters.

There were a few stinkers this year, but most of the eps were excellent and worth another look fo sho.

If they stick to the original 5 season plan, then we have 2 more. I'm wondering if perhaps the Seth Green show that's being developed will replace CW. Because based on what I've heard the plan for both the live action and animated series was to do 5 seasons of one show in each format and then move on to something else.

I really enjoyed the finale. Really have been impressed with the character evolution of both Anakin but especially Ahoska. She's continued to grow and mature since her introduction in the Clone Wars movie, and the moment that Anakin and Ahsoka acknowledging each other's importance was a nice emotional moment. Yoda seemed extremely pleased as well. It is clear though that Anakin's attachment problem is going to continue to be that and rightfully so since it continues right through to the end of ROTS. The little season four preview Teletoon aired at the end of the episode was great!

This was an odd thing to use as the season finale, since it wasn't a "big" story at all, except in terms of Ahsoka's character growth (and the gimmick of the Chewbacca cameo). It was a side story that had nothing to do with the war or the bulk of the cast. Still, I guess in a way one could say that Ahsoka's maturation was the principal arc of this season, and it reached a culmination here. To be honest, I was surprised the episode didn't end with her being promoted from Padawan to full Jedi.

I don't think Wookiees translate very well to this show's style of animation, which reduces hair to blocky, rigid shapes. Chewbacca looked abnormally gaunt and strange. And it was kind of hard to get any character insights about a non-speaking character. He was more of a plot device than anything else.

Anyway, when did Ahsoka have occasion to learn Wookiee-ese? (Or Shyriiwook, as it's apparently called?)

So.... What was the Secrets that were Revealed? That's what we were promised...

All in all, the finale was fun, though, yet another retread of the Most Dangerous Game.

Very fun episode and a good way to end the season. The animation continues to impress me. The jungle planet had an Avatar vibe and along with Felucia were impressively brought to life. Nice look into the Trandoshan culture and I got a kick out of the skinned Wampa chair.

Nice to see Chewbacca (and the Wookie rescue party) and I laughed when he punched the Trandoshan in the head. My only disappointment was that we didn't get to see any of the Wookies pull an arm out of a Trandoshan socket. Considering this show just killed a kid....er, youngling, they seem to have very few limits.

I did find it funny that Plo Koon admonished Anakin for getting emotionally involved in the search for Ahsoka. Last week he lied to Anakin and Obi-Wan about Ahsoka, covering up the fact that Ahsoka disobeyed the orders of her master. Just what exactly was his personal justification for doing that? It's only Anakin who gets admonished when he lets his feelings take over.

Again, plot device.

The Season 4 preview looked good and I can't wait to see the Mon Cal episode.

I thought the animation looked very improved in this episode with the dirt and lighting and insects. Good episodes. Kinda pissed Bossk wasn't in there though :p

On a sidenote, was the human female mercenary pilot and the wookie general supposed to be people we know?

I don't recall them being in any previous episodes, but it sure felt like we were expected to recognize them.

The female battle hunter Sugi was the one from The Magnificent Seven episode last season. The Wookie general was Tarfful, the one that helps Yoda escape in ROTS.

Oy.:sigh:

If the episode guide is any indication, it seems they did intend that to be Tarfful.

Except it didn't look like Tarfful from ROTS. It looked like Tarfful from the Republic Commando game, who has the wrong coloration. It should have been Merumeru.

It's very possible that the Force translated the language for Ahsoka. I liked the fact that this was a non "event" finale. The last two finales were pretty big, not every finale has to end with a bang and more so in a series that is all about a war. Using an episode (even a finale) to focus on a character's evolution is fine by me. This whole entire season had a theme of evolution for Ahoska in my opinion and like a war has had had it's ups and downs.

I don't remember the other finales being "events". The first one was just Cad Bane holding Padme hostage and freeing Ziro. The second one... uh, that was just the bit with Boba Fett and Aurra Sing right?

^ Yes and I would say that the producers would consider both of those maybe not "events" but at least big deals compared to this episode. Ah well. The point is that the episode was enjoyable.

I dunno, i'd say Ahsoka being captured and hunted for sport is a bit more of an event episode than the other 2 finales. Especially with the framing and such in the first part, it was positively cinematic.

I'd say that the season finales basically revolve around introducing a prominent guest star; Cad Bane, Boba Fett, Chewbacca.
