Star Wars:The Clone Wars S3......so far

I think those "clues" about Anakin might have been simply addition of a bit of drama, implying that there was something dangerous about him, and there was more to the story than Luke's simplistic notions of heroic Jedi. That might have been nothing worse than the idea that war is hell, and you might have to do nasty things, or that Owen and Beru knew that being a Jedi was often fatal (especially under the Empire!) and simply wanted to protect their adoptive son.

True, that is possible, but regardless, they do work as strong hints or foreshadowing and contribute to the effectiveness of the revelation in Empire.

Oddly enough, it's the clue that ostensibly contradicts the idea that the twist was planned from the beginning (Obi Wan stating that Vader killed Luke's father), that feels to me like the strongest element of intentional foreshadowing, regardless of whether or not it really was intentional.

It just feels like exactly what Obi Wan would say in that situation to avoid revealing the full truth, which Luke wasn't prepared to learn at that point, but also to avoid telling an outright lie (what he says is sort of true, figuratively speaking, though he knows that Luke will not understand what he says on that level). Alec Guinness' performance also supports the idea that Obi Wan is hiding something. Given his talents as an actor, I think this would not likely be the case if he were not intending to create that effect.

Also, obviously, for the revelation to have its impact in Empire, we need to have heard something else about Luke's father earlier on, and that something would have to tie Luke closely to Vader in some way to make the revelation of his kinship to Vader seem so profoundly horriying to him.

So, I guess it could be sheer luck that it worked out that way, but I find it hard to believe that no one had any idea that Vader might turn out be Luke's father or, at the very least, that there might be more to the events surrounding Anakin's death than Obi Wan feels he can reveal initially.

I actually think that's a little easier to attribute to Uncle Owen's fear that Luke will run off and get killed on some foolish crusade, like his father, or whatever the line is. But anyway, it also works to good effect. I think at the very least it's likely that the possibility of Vader being Luke's father had been considered as of the initial Star Wars film, whether or not any definitive plans had been made.

I'm a little concerned by this interview with the new head writer, who doesn't know about anything outside of the movies, doesn't know anything about the EU, and says it basically didn't happen in terms of the series...

^ I wouldn't be too worried since he said in the interview that Filoni is basically the guy in charge. This guy most likely just writes what Filioni and Lucas tell him too...

Well, thats what George said and thats what I thought what was generally accepted. Books, comics and games in general are "secondary" canon. I think there might be a few exceptions and they can certainly cherry pick elements to "make" canon in TCW (Delta Squad for one, I hope we see more).

I was thinking,I wonder if they have thought about having Mark Hamill to do some voice work on the show,I would love to see him do some"Joker"like alien bounty hunter complete with a female sidekick with a high pitched voice.

Mark very rarely does voice work for Star Wars-the one exception being the New Jedi Order commercial. Other than that, Bob Bergen is the voice of Luke in the video games. Mark seems more of a comic book guy although he does put in the ocassional SW related thing. However, seeing that CW has managed to attract a lot of talent lately, I wouldn't be surprised if Mark agrees to do a voice.

I wonder if the 'toon will have it's own take on the Outer Rim sieges, which are the mission Obi-Wan and Anakin were on prior to ROTS.

I just read the written preview for next week's finale, and they were saying that this one is supposed to give us an idea of what next season is going to be like in terms of scope, and feel. It sounds like they'll be going bigger, and more epic, so perhaps it will be the Outer Rim Sieges.

Didn't they say somewhere that Lucas planned on doing 100 episodes over five years?

^ That was the original plan. In my Celebration V thread back in the summer...Filoni said in the panel that half the episodes were storyboarded and written for season four and they just started work on season five. They should be almost completed season four now.

I must say, the visuals in 3x21 - "Padawan lost" were amazing. The stile reminded me of Avatar and Alice in Wonderland at times, and as for those hunters - Hirogens anyone? :D

Well, just watched the finale.

The first part was certainly darker compared to the second, but the second actually managed to evoke that Star Wars "tingle" down my spine that I only ever get watching A New Hope, so that's something.

Visually it wasn't quite as impressive as the first part and I dont know what happened there, but it still had its moments and was all in all a solid season finale.

Now I really can't wait till September/October when this show starts up again. :D

Edited to add: Oh, and btw, Wookiees are awesome.
