You know, I like plucky rebels, but damn if some part of me wants to be a SSD Captain sooo bad. Still one of the most iconic-ly bad-ass designs ever conceived in its menacing simplicity.

That image of the Falcon approaching the hanger is a screencap from A New Hope

The problem is we have no side profile views of the actual physical model used in filming. I can't grab any old model image of the web because you'll just site it as not being 'accurate to the film'

Edit:

I think I found one, I even put the falcon behind the bridge. Though I'm done with this now. I'm with Locutus, lets just discuss the movie as a whole.

Your examples are ten times better than Locutus of Boreds and have convinced me it is possible that they would fit. Now the only problem we have is that the Star Destroyer on the RO screen is much smaller in scale and would easily float in the trench with out getting so close to the trench walls as yours do. Again good illustration Tuskin. Placing the falcon over the star destroyer was well done.

The Director probably wants the DS1 to feel huge, more menacing.

It was even oversized in the teaser-teaser trailer from Comic-Con(?) last year.

I thought they formed the LucasFilm Story group to make sure everything fit.

So there are different sizes of the standard white star destroyers? Which brings up another thing I have been wanting to mention. The star destroyers in this movie seem to be rendered of the same exact shade of white that we saw in ANH and the rest of the OT. TFA seemed to give the newer star destroyers a beige or darker color that just didn't seem to pop onscreen at all. So have to say I do like the detail they have put in the CGI renderings and they seem superior to what we say in TFA. I really hope see more flybys around the death star and not just the couple second shot we have seen in the preview.

Looking at the 4k screencap, and images of the DS1 filming model, it is a spot on with the placement of all the lines and little details.
Doesn't surprise me, they probably took photos of the thing. If DICE can get into the LucasFilm archives to scan models/take photos for Battlefront, then people working on the actual movie can.

Yup it was perfectly done. When I saw the closet star destroyer moving toward the screen it took me back. They did a excellent job and it goes to show that CGI can be as impressive as models if done right. I do hope they mimic the actual movement of the OT destroyers throughout RO and don't change the way they originally moved to make them cooler for younger audiences. Again perfectly done.

Contrary to what has been said, I really don't think this fabled "Story Group" has much input over the movies. Mostly because I can't picture most Hollywood directors agreeing to a watchdog making demands of what must be done for the sake of something as trivial as continuity. Which is the way it should be.

Yeah, I think the Story Group really only exists to coordinate with the EU writers and make sure they keep consistent with whatever the movies are doing.

Honestly, I think the Story Group is an unnecessary hassle, even for the tie-in material. The standard approvals process for novels/comics/games that works for other franchises should work just fine for Star Wars. I guess it might work a bit differently since unlike most franchises, Disney is claiming Star Wars tie-in material is also canon. Which, IMO is a mistake, but that's a whole other discussion.

The Rogue One trailer makes the Star Trek Beyond trailer look like Plan 9 From Outer Space in comparison. From the strength of it, I'm looking more forward to this movie than Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and I'm betting it will be a better movie.

Agreed. RO's trailer is much more exciting then the NuTrek Beyond trailer. I think NuTrek is on its last legs and we won't see another movie after Beyond. I think we will only see the NuTrek Universe in the new TV show(If they decide to go that way) and thankfully that will not be on television.

Which the shot certainly accomplishes. Also, there are multiple classes of Star Destroyers.

I personally am more excited for Beyond than this film, but this trailer finally got me in to it at least. The look and feel of the film was generally on point for what I would want, save for the ground troops against the AT-ATs. That felt a little ridiculous.

If the biggest thing people on here can find to complain about is a possible mistake in the scale of the ships, I think that is a good sign for the movie, or at least this trailer.
