I have no doubt you'd love the episodes - both series are on youtube
Yes, that amorphous blob is indeed much more "iconically menacing" than an SSD.

I could find moreIf the biggest thing people on here can find to complain about is a possible mistake in the scale of the ships, I think that is a good sign for the movie, or at least this trailer.
But that's basically what the battle in TESB was.the ground troops against the AT-ATs. That felt a little ridiculous.

I recognize that, and knew it would come up. And, I could be wrong, as I am judging off of a single scene, so, in context it might make sense. However, my personal irritation is that TESB was a desperate, nearly one sided battle that the Rebels were lucky to survive. In RO, I suppose it could seem the same way, but I have a feeling that the heroes will survive the assault on three walkers, which could work and could go really poorly. But that's basically what the battle in TESB was.
After analyzing these photos closer I'm starting to think now that the overlaid ships are a bit two small. If we take the Millennium Falcon and turn it so we can see its top it would be quite a bit bigger than the shield generators on the star destroyer on both of the photos so the star destroyer overlay photos would need to be increased in size. Also since the star destroyer pictures are over layered on the still picture it seems that they would both be hitting the top and bottom walls of the trench. This was a good attempt but it has not convinced me 100%. Also the star destroyer shown in the RO trailer is much smaller and would easily fit in the trench with much room to spare. All I can figure is that the star destroyers in RO are much smaller than what we saw in ANH and TESB. I don't know why this is bugging me so much. I need to get some sleep but I keep thinking about this. That image of the Falcon approaching the hanger is a screencap from A New Hope
The problem is we have no side profile views of the actual physical model used in filming. I can't grab any old model image of the web because you'll just site it as not being 'accurate to the film'
Edit:
I think I found one, I even put the falcon behind the bridge. Though I'm done with this now. I'm with Locutus, lets just discuss the movie as a whole.

Something called Aquila. A tv show I think, ask @HMS Ark RoyalWhat is that from?
Which the shot certainly accomplishes. Also, there are multiple classes of Star Destroyers.
I personally am more excited for Beyond than this film, but this trailer finally got me in to it at least. The look and feel of the film was generally on point for what I would want, save for the ground troops against the AT-ATs. That felt a little ridiculous.
As I said, context of the film will determine my final feelings. But, just upon initial watch, it was something that stuck out to me.I think they are fleeing an Imperial garrison that has called in its AT-ATs, and the group is trying to make a run past them to whatever ride they might have, or some open communications terminal so they can send off the plans before they die.

You should be forced to watch The Holiday Special, Caravan of Courage, and Ewoks: Battle for Endor on a continuous loop as you are slowly digested over a thousand years. After analyzing these photos closer I'm starting to think now that the overlaid ships are a bit two small. That shot impressed me because it gave a sense of the abject terror those poor Rebels would feel as they tried to flee from those behemoths. In ESB we get one shot from the control room of the AT-AT as they are mowing down individual Rebels on Hoth, and we get one shot where the AT- AT is sort of up and at an angle firing down on the troops, but because of the limits of the FX there isn't that direct "shaky-cam" kind of running with the troops shot that gives you a sense of scale and the helplessness that an infantryman would feel when confronted by one of those monster walkers.I think they are fleeing an Imperial garrison that has called in its AT-ATs, and the group is trying to make a run past them to whatever ride they might have, or some open communications terminal so they can send off the plans before they die.
