The kneeling black robed figure seems to be standing in front of what smacks of a freezing tube. Perhaps they Darth Vader... on ice!

AT-AT fire is a little on the pink side...
It was pink in ESB. Though that was because of the background and difficulties showing red on it.

Anyone else notice the Star Destroyer was the variant from 'A New Hope'? The biggest difference being that Radar thing on the top of the command tower.

I have always, given my interest in naval history, assumed the SDs seen in A New Hope were "Block One" vessels

The ones seen in ESB and RotJ are simply refitted "Block Ones" and new build "Block Twos"

Agreed. Not to mention that so far Rey and Jyn strike me as very different characters, with Jyn having a much harder edge and being more of a troublemaker and delinquent.

It's just bizarre to me this fixation some scifi/superhero fans have on gender and race, where they perceive every casting that doesn't involve a white male as being motivated only by "political correctness".

I did enjoy this trailer very much especially the classic stormtroopers, xwings, At Ats, Death Star etc. but I do understand the feeling some fans have about another young female lead. The casting is more to get girls to watch Star Wars so I would say its more of a advertising ploy to get more girls and women to see star wars as well as girls to buy the toys. Not so much political correctness but more of a way to market the franchise to the female gender in hopes of making more money.

Someone may have mentioned this already, but the actress playing Mon Mothma is the same one from a ROTS deleted scene.

So this is our second PT actor/actress appearing in the new movies.

The first being Ewan McGregor's voice in TFA

You know, I had a thought... I noticed that there appears to be at least five SDs close to the Death Star I's primary array - could they tractoring in the last piece? They do seem to be arranged in a formation that suggests it is possible

I guess, it baffles me. I think calling Rey a "Mary Sue" was a touch strong as there's clearly supposed to be more to her character's history than we are told in the movie

Well, the entire internet seems to believe that, but going by the film I would say that it's less than clear.

So I don't know much about this project. Is this an official Star Wars movie like Force Awakens? Is this just a made for Movie TV series?

The only thing I know is Tatiana Maslany was in the running to play the lead and Felicity Jones beat her out. As for the trailer, it looks really interesting.

Seriously...?

That, I am sorry to say, is something I would have expected from @PhaserLightShow

That was a great teaser trailer. It just got more and more exciting as it went on. Seeing Mon Mothma was great (and the actress looks spot on), and there is so much stuff in the trailer to geek out about and make theories about (who were those Royal guards protecting in that room with the tube? As far as I know, they only guardthe emperor) that I loved every second of the trailer. I've been on board with side movies since they were first announced, and I think this one will be great.

Maybe old Sidious needs to go into a freezer every so often after the "terrible" injuries suffered at the hands of the "evil" Mace Windu

Or it is a cryo tube for Darth Binks

Exactly what do you mean by official? This is a Star Wars movie from Disney and Lucasfilm. The Lucasfilm logo is right there at the beginning.

I take it you're not up on Disney's Star Wars movie plans, that is every year they alternate between a movie that's part of the new trilogy and a standalone expanding on backstories. For example the current plan is:
2015: The Force Awakens
2016: Rogue One
2017: Episode 8
2019: Young Han Solo movie
2020: Episode 9
2021: Currently unknown, rumoured to be a Boba Fett film

First of all, I don't know who that is. Second of all, I was ignorant about this movie and came to ask about it. If you don't believe me, than that's your fault not mine. Third of all, back off. I don't think anything I said was meant to offend. In terms of offcial, Force Awakens is Official. Empire Strikes Back is official. I'm learning today that this is a stand alone star wars movie (Thus official) meant to expand the movie universe. I find that pretty cool and would have appreciated being talked to instead of talked down.

I was not until you listed it here. I think it's great Disney is doing this. More Star Wars is always a great thing and like I said, Rouge One looked very interesting. As someone who doesn't read the books or watch the shows, I'm looking forward to seeing how this universe expands. Star Wars is alive and well and that can only be a good thing.

I just don't appreciate being talked to like some kind of troll. I'm sorry if my question offended anyone else's celebration. Maybe I should have worded it differently, but hindsight is 20/20.

I like this trailer. It's exciting!

I think the reason I'm really looking forward to this is it has the chance to be something very different from all of the other Star Wars movies. Plus there is a really good story to be told in how the rebellion got the plans for Death Star I.

So what exactly is the uniform Felicity Jones is wearing at the end, the black Imperial outfit? At first glance, I thought it was a TIE Fighter pilot's flight suit, but after pausing and scrutinizing that clearly isn't it. It looks like she's wearing body armour of some sort with a weapon or something on her back.

Ah, don't worry about it. I am fully aware I can come off as needlessly condescending at times, but no hard feelings were intended, it's just how I talk/post.

If you had watched the trailer correctly, you would have seen the LucasFilm logos at the beginning and end as well as Disney insignia somewhere. The question about if this was an official movie or nto is stupid given that the very first place to show it was the official Star Wars website followed by Good Morning America... Kind of think a fanfilm wouldn't be able to do that

No worries. :)

It was to the other poster who compared me to someone else. It just came off as condescending and I didn't know why. I enjoyed the trailer and I'm looking forward to what this will bring. In terms of official, all the other Star Wars films seemed to have year round fanfare too, while this one is kind of quiet at the moment. Maybe that's expected for this anthology series, but this one has a different "feel" than the other Star Wars movies. I find that actually a bit exciting.
