If they do it like a western with Obi-Wan as a reluctant hero forced into action by his own morals it could be really great.

I always found Obi Wan's adventures in the prequels boring, and to be the points where the movies dragged the most. I personally shudder at the prospect of an entire movie of same, particularly based only on Tatooine. His character is a mystic sage, not a noir private eye.

The internet continues to be the internet filled with people complaining about us apparently having, "yet another" female central protagonist. It's just too much, I mean it's not like we had 6 full movies filled with male protagonists so having two in a row is just too much!
What a bunch of whiny children. Are they afraid that Star Wars will get cooties if too many girls are in it?

Great trailer - lays out the basic plot in an non-spoilery way, we get to see parts of the Star Wars universe that we haven't seen in the last seven episodes of "Keeping up with the Skywalkers" and the trailer uses a piano version of the main theme that will become my ringtone the moment Disney offers it for sale.

Oh - and the AT-AT beachfront assault scene is BADDDDASSSSSS!!!!!

I'm thinking of Obi-Wan just being a loner, occasionally going into town for supplies. He keeps seeing corruption and innocents being victimized, but he tries to ignore it because he doesn't want to reveal himself as a Jedi and risk Luke getting discovered. Eventually he realizes that he can't ignore it and agrees to help a small town. Basically the Road Warrior but with a lightsaber.

See Mon Mothma - nice touch

See FJ in tight leather...

I'd like to see Obi-wan as a "wandering ronin" type of character, like in Yojimbo. Having been forced to use his abilities (perhaps in the corrupt town in the scenario mentioned above), Jabba the Hutt and a rival crime lord each want to hire him as an enforcer, but he cleverly plays both sides off of one another.

I believe that's Jakku.

Tatooine, Jakku, Tatooine, Jakku... easy to blend them together given how interlinked and mirrored ANH and TFA are.

Obi Wan, and more specifically Ewan's protrayal of him in II and III are (barring some fine music, world design and the occasional action sequence) is the main redeeming feature of those films for me. I'll watch Ewan in pretty much anything, and of course I would end up watching a trilogy of films about him playing Obi Wan, yet... they need to think larger, outside of the box. These films have the opportunity, like The Clone Wars expertly hit home, to play with everything in this universe and enrich it. You could use Obi Wan to explore that universe, but why be beholden to the old characters when you can create compelling, fun new ones - like they did Rey and Finn. And neither of them need to be sewn so tightly into the mythos that each of them is connected to people from previous films.

Still, just to clarify - very strong Teaser with the right look and feel to it.

Hugo - seriously, the SW side of the brain is not engaged today

Yeah, a Star Wars-style Yojimbo is how I've long imagined a Ben Kenobi movie going down, too. Makes a lot of sense given how big of an inspiration Kurosawa's films were for George Lucas when he started this whole thing.

I guess, it baffles me. I think calling Rey a "Mary Sue" was a touch strong as there's clearly supposed to be more to her character's history than we are told in the movie so it's not like she's the "perfect and knows everything female character" a Mary Sue is supposed to be; the story needs to flesh out in order to see her entire journey.

I'm fine with seeing more and more female leads in strong roles, we need more of this considering how women are often treated in movies; in particular action movies. As I said, we had Padme and Leia in the PT and the OT but in those movies they were mostly plot devices or objects to be rescued; hardly fully realized characters like Rey and the RO female character will be.

Bring it on, as I'm tired of always seeing *male* dominated movies.

I think the low tempo piano version of a beloved theme is becoming a bit overused, honestly. It sounds nice but we've now had in in Jurassic World, the Ghostbusters remake and now in Rogue One.

My daughter is growing up with these films, so I'm 100% down with it. She idolized Rey in TFA, and I'm sure she'll take to Jyn just as much.

I realize there are TONS of planets in the Star Wars Galaxy where any of these location shots could be set; For example that Rebel Base stuff could be very easily assumed to take place on the Yavin moon base seen in A New Hope (though it could just as easily turn out to be Dantooine ;) ).

I won't even speculate about the location of the tropical beach front battle with the AT-ATs, but I was watching those shots of Jyn during her "Rebelling" talk again (her kicking stormtrooper butt), and as easy as it could be to assume that those scenes took place in the back alleys of Tatooine, I suddenly had to wonder if maybe those shots weren't our first live action views of Lothal?

Since I'm not too into spoiler leaks these days I can only speculate, but that was just a thought I had. After all, on Rebels, Minister Tua indicated something big was going down on Lothal, and offered to exchange that info (in addition to a list of Rebel sympathizers) to the Rebellion for her safe defection. Of course back alley market places are pretty common throughout the Star Wars Galaxy, so once again, it was just a fleeting thought.

Not a bad teaser. Though I don't think it is as good as TFA. I was probably more hyped about that and the ending of that trailer with the classic music and with the Falcon and TIE fighters just hit so many buttons. I'm a bit unsure due to the writers involved (similarly with Star Trek Beyond, but with the director), but I'm cautiously optimistic about the film.

I can't understand why people got so upset that she was good at things. Both Luke and Anakin were great pilots, both blowing up space stations during their first actual combat mission (Anakin doing it at age 9). Both were fairly skilled at electronics, Anakin built C-3PO. Both were extremely strong in the Force.

The only difference between them and Rey is that she's female. They even make a point that anytime she uses the Force it's after seeing someone else do it. Like when Kylo Ren tries to probe her mind and she's able to push back. I actually think that she may have had some training as a child and just doesn't remember it, but there's some muscle memory to it like riding a bicycle. But both Luke and Anakin were shown to be using the Force without really being aware of what they were doing, probably dismissing it as luck or skill until they got trained.

3/5.

Not bad, but like TFA just blatant pandering. Also, the "docucam" look needs to go. This is supposed to be a fantasy fairy tale.

That looked amazing.

Would I be right in thinking the AT-AT's are the design that has appeared in Rebels?

The running rear view was nice. The front view coming out of the Rebel base seemed bouncy.

Really? Do you need to make a comment like that.

No, the ones in Rebels look very similar to the original Joe Johnson concept art. This one is very close to the final model in ESB, but with some more subtle differences.

Teaser trailers are designed to appeal to dedicated fans. They are going to contain elements designed to appeal directly to them.
