Leia was the Senator in ANH? I thought she was just Bail's aid.

I thought Leia says she is a part of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan?

Need to rewatch it.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I am a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan..."

So far as I understand such systems, a senatorial aide is not a member of the senate in their own right, ergo, Leia was a senator. Indeed I'm pretty sure "member of the senate" is the literal definition of "senator".

There's also this: -

"Holding her is dangerous. If word of this gets out, it could generate sympathy for the rebellion in the Senate."

Again, senators aren't likely to get riled when an aide gets nicked for treason, but if it looks like one of their own is getting picked off their "enlightened self interest" reflexes will kick in. It's also the reason why Vader had his people destroy the ship, send a fake distress signal and lie about it to the Imperial Senate.

All of which is academic since after writing all that, I noted the stage direction in the shooting script specifically refers to her as a senator.

Princess Leia is led down a low-ceilinged hallway by a squad
of armored stormtroopers. Her hands are bound and she is
brutally shoved when she is unable to keep up with the briskly

Actually, this brings up another question. If someone has a title like Princess and is also a member of the Senate, how would it be decided if you refer to them as Princess or Senator?

That's a question of etiquette and as such depends upon the occasion. If I had to guess I'd say she's only referred to as "Senator Organa" when acting in an official capacity to the Imperial Senate, as in an address or committee meeting or hearing. Most other times it's "Princess Leia", except when things get really formal like a state banquet at the Imperial Palace, in which case it's probably her full name and titles. Probably something like "Her Royal Highness, Princess Leia Organa of the Royal House of Alderaan, Imperial Senator of the First Galactic Empire."
That's assuming she isn't also the Duchess of some colony world, Baroness of a subcontinent on Alderaan and the Countess of the planet's second city (seriously, look up Prince Charles's full title some day!)
Indeed, it's a minor subplot in 'Bloodline' that she inherited the purely ceremonial title of "Supreme Governor" of a minor mid-rim world after the previous monarch died. So it's a fair bet she already has quite a few.

I think they cut it down to just "Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith"
Though I'm quite confident that only gets announced when she walks in the door. In actual conversation it's "Your Majesty" then "Ma'am".

It is generally covered by the following: Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith.

Otherwise they would need to repeat it with minor variations 15 times. Not including her 12 other unofficial and military titles. Including the somewhat tongue in cheek title of Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska.

That makes sense, if it was a dinner the food would probably be cold before they finished if they went through everything.

I just watched the two part Season 2 finale, Twilight of the Apprentice, and I loved it. I knew of a lot of the stuff from hanging on this site, and other Star Wars sites, but it was still really cool to see exactly how it all plays out.
I loved the addition of Maul, he really has become a great character now. He introduces a nice little wrinkle into Ezra's training, as he now gives him a dark side mentor to rival Kanan.
The bits and pieces of Jedi/Sith history here were really cool.
The Ahsoka/Vader fight was great, I especially loved her cutting of the side of his helmet to reveal a bit of Anakin's face. The ambiguity of Ahsoka's fate was annoying, but not necessarily a bad choice creatively.
