Star Wars Rebels Season Two (spoilers)

The Dantooinians care.
I don't think there are any.

We've seen in 'Rebels' that as the Alliance grew, it became more and more dangerous to base themselves on populated worlds (both for themselves and the locals) so they've shifted towards more out of the way planets off the beaten track, with no inhabitants to speak of.

Yavin IV was clearly inhabited once, but those Massassi temples have obviously been abandoned for centuries. Hoth was a frozen wasteland and Atollon seems devoid of any evidence of civilization. Dantooine being a deserted planet would seem to fit the pattern.

All that said, I'd be surprised if Dantooine is the big surprise they have in store. It's not a big enough deal and is probably their inevitable destination once Atollon becomes untenable.

Since they are making it a big deal, I'm thinking it will be something directly from the movies, like Obi-Wan or Yavin, not just something that was a one off reference like Dantooine.

Maybe we get to see the Emperor make an appearence after Ezra gets captured tries to lure him to the darkside

^I think Sam Witwer is doing a perfectly good job so far.

I'd also put an appearance by Palpatine in the "not that big a deal" category. Given that he was a constant presence in TCW & has already had an "appearance", albeit slightly off-screen.

Mace Windu was mentioned fighting on Dantooine in Clone Wars

Not that it means anything.
I had a similar thought and there did seem to be a sparse population in both the old (now non-canon) micro-series and KoTOR (also non-canon.) Ignoring continuity just for a second, even if there were people living there in the past (even as recently as the Clone Wars) that doesn't mean they're still there by ANH. They could have been wiped out, driven off or forcibly evacuated by one side or the other.

Just going by canon sources though; it would hardly be unprecedented for a battle to take place on an uninhabited world. Maybe there was just a listening post set up there, or some sort of temporary staging area abandoned after the war.
The history of warfare if replete with examples of scraps of land that were soaked in blood because they were desperately vital at the time but became utterly irrelevant as soon as the conflict ended. Perhaps Dantooine is one of those.

Another possibility is that the Separatists could have used it as a weapons testing ground, which could account for both why Windu was there (to destroy the weapon) and why possibly nobody lived there afterwards (the test worked and killed all the locals.)

I might be a little behind in the episodes--but the triangular ship we saw recently--that becomes the Flurry?

Now it seems to be a Tie bomber support ship (Wolf by Andre Kirk)

We saw the nacelle equipped Lady Luck in the episode with old Hondo.

^I don't think they've said it's the Flurry specifically, but yes it's obviously the same design from the old West End Games RPG that they also used for the Flurry in the EU.

As for the Lady Luck: they've been using that old design on and off since season four of Clone Wars. IIRC Hondo used one to deliver the rockets to Ahsoka and the insurgents on Onderon While Hera used the hulk of one as target practice for the Blade Wing.

'Wolf' is the production name of Rebels I assume, it is in the same spot 'Clone Wars' is in its concept art.
Yes the ship in Rebels is a Quasar-Fire, it is even called that in the official website's databank.

It wasn't an Imperial ship in the old EU, but they made it one in Rebels because of its shape and design aesthetic.

I thought "Wolf" was so that the designs would be seen by Dave Filoni, who likes wolves.

As for the ship design, it makes sense that almost any Rebel ship would have once been an Imperial ship. The options are ex-Imperial, ex-Republic (which are usually also ex-Imperial), ex-Seperatist, or converted civilian ships.

In the old canon, the Quasar-Fire was a bulk-cruiser/freighter which the Rebels converted into a carrier. No mention of imperial use on Wookieepedia.

Seems they're continuing to upgrade and change the character designs. Ezra look visibly taller, has had a haircut and an all new costume that looks half-way between his old look and Kanan's. Also, now sporting a blaster (a DL-44 or similar) and a new lightsaber, this time with a green blade and a longer hilt, though not quite the same design as Kanan's. I'm sure it'll be explained, but I do wonder how he got a new crystal. IIRC his old one seemed to survive the hilt's destruction, though I don't recall if we saw him grab it.

Zeb's costume looks a little different too, now with a more squared off looking tunic, sans shoulder pads.
Sabine not surprisingly appears to have given her armor another new paint job, this time with colours more akin to the season 1 look, though she's sporting a more substantial utility belt, gauntlets & boots and her upper arms remain covered. Also note a lack of the paint splatter effect.

Clearly Ezra has somewhat replaced Kanan as the front line tactical guy and he & Sabine seem to be on much more even footing than they were. However, Sabine "most of the time" line makes me wonder if Kanan and Ezra have some kind for force bond thing going on, where Kanan can help guide Ezra's actions through the force. An interesting development if true and potentially dangerous.

Hmm, might be time to start up the season 3 thread. ;)
