Star Wars Rebels Season Two (spoilers)

Though I know one showed up in the old Marvel comics, a lightsaber whip always struck me as *really* stupid.
Now an electro-whip on the other hand--similar to the magnaguard droid electrostaffs--would make a bit more sense. In fact, didn't the Zygerrian slavers use something just like that?
*googles*
Yup.

Maybe an inverse saber--one with two handles and the beam between the two--that can expand out several meters and retract--lightning fast.

I'm having a hard time seeing the value of such a weapon.

I want to see a guy with lightsaber arm and leg guards! :ouch:
(yep, it's actually been done)
Was that the floaty cyborg Jedi who appeared in the Dark Empire comics and (like just about every character from those books) was never mentioned again?

That's him! Hunh, I didn't know he was from Children of the Jedi. I've only read that one once and didn't like it. It was clear in in the NJO novel he was a pre-existing character but I had no idea from where.

Oh, I forgot about that guy!
Yeah in my mind, Palpatine is either entirely asexual, or gay (as was implied in the Plageuis novel).

Most of those novels were written before the Prequels came out, so the only thing they had to go with really was his appearance in Return of the Jedi were he was seen as just an evil old man strong in the Dark Side. We had very little else aside from the basic background information that he was a politician who had managed to get to the highest office of the Republic and then turned it into the Empire via his New Order (and a massive military). Without seeing him in the Prequels, one can assume he'd be like any politician turned tyrant and just assign evil things he could have done based on your own moral codes.

In the 90s I think it was "assume straight", will not share power, man with all the power can have any woman he wants. Evil man in power will take any woman he wants.

I tend to think of Palpatine as asexual, since the idea that he'd turn any of his energies to anything other than the pursuit of power would feel out of character. From the recent a canon books it seems he's barely interested in ruling his Empire, at least on a day-to-day level. Most of his attention seems focused on whatever ancient Sith site in buried deep beneath the old Jedi Temple (now Imperial Palace.)

I could however see him taking concubines as a political feint, but not actually making use of them as you might think, but as bait for any political enemies that might try to attack him through that vector, falsely perceiving it as a weakness to exploit.
Or he could use the official position of concubine as a cover for his personal spynet, something entirely separate from the bureaucracy of Imperial Intelligence and even the Inquisitorius, which still involves Vader. Basically like the Emperor's Hands from the EU. And no, I'm not suggesting they all need be female or indeed, human.

So Chopper gets more backstory?

^Maybe that accounts for why Chopper and Ahsoka seemed to recognise each other when she first showed up. She did fly air cover in that campaign.

Since the topic has turned to Chopper, is it supposed to be the same kind of droid as the "bad motivator" droid in ANH? Thanks in advance.

It seems rather odd for an astromech to consider themselves a war hero.
One assumes Chopper hasn't had a memory wipe in quite a while (at least 17 years since the Ryloth campaign) and he's obviously developed a very distinct personality. Of course I think if you asked him, R2 would also probably consider himself a hero of the Clone Wars.

The main Disney Channel is actually showing Protectors of Concord Dawn and Legends of the Lasat today. They're about 20 minutes into Protectors as I post this.
EDIT: I thought both episodes were pretty good.
The episodes both gave use some interesting new bits of backstory for both characters.
Sabine revealing she was a member of House Vizal was a nice little call back to the Clone Wars.
It was fun getting to see some other Lasat and to learn about about their culture and Zeb's history.
It was also fun getting to see Hondo and Rex again.

The Chopper episode was pretty cute, but thank god it's a one off and not a Clone Wars style four episode serial. This is kind of thing to only do once. And it was nice to see Chopper being less of an asshole for once. I never thought of him as a war veteran before! I also really liked showing he has a true affection for Hera.

Of course I think if you asked him, R2 would also probably consider himself a hero of the Clone Wars.

Only in R2's case, he really is the hero in Episodes I-VII.

He's also the biggest douche for knowing all the stuff he knows (Vader is Luke's father. Leia is Luke's sister. Knows where Luke is hiding, etc..) but I don't want to go there.
