Star Wars: Clone Wars..are you in or out?

Sure, I think Lucas has mikled one of the most special franchises a bit too much, and perhaps it was more special when each time it was revisited was a unique and altogether new experience, but just the same, I think I'm going to enjoy the new series. I can't even explain why, except that I just love the universe.

So where do all stand on the new series?

I still love the SW universe too, but I've had MORE than enough of the Clone Wars by now. It's time for Lucas to move on to something else.

I've been in since the series was announced...didn't get a chance to see the movie for various reasons that interfered but am looking forward to watching the cartoon. I'll give it a chance.

I might give it a shot when the DVD's come out but until then meh it's not worth my time.

I'll be watching. I wasn't all that impressed by the Clone Wars movie but I have no problem with Ashoka Tano and I've loved Asajj Ventress since I read about her in the Republic comics. I still think her duel with Anakin on Yavin IV is one of the best lightsaber duels in all of SW. So, any little bit more I get to see of her and hopefully her character development is a cool thing. I also hope CW makes Grevious a worthy villian because ROTS sure didn't.

But I do understand why some people might be tired of the Clone Wars. I mean, I think it would be awesome to see Dark Empire, Thrawn Trilogy, or the NJO get the CGI treatment. Or even the current Legacy or KOTOR comics.

I'm out. Wake me when the live action show starts.
I still think this focus on the PT era is pretty lame though. I don't know why they keep pushing this stuff when it's clear that no one is really interested. Force Unleashed, Clone Wars and the new live action show. Yuck.
The Force Unleashed takes place closer to the OT than the PT.

Yeah, but I pretty much consider everything from the movies up to ANH PT-era stuff. Well, except for the seemingly retconned Han Solo trilogy I guess.

Motion seconded!!! :techman:

Let me just stop you right there. The rest of your post I agree with so no further comment there.

OK, let's break this down. Lucas has had direct involvement in 6 films, the '78 Holiday Special, perhaps the original '80s Droids/Ewoks cartoons, and the 2 Ewok movies, the original Clone Wars cartoon and now the new CG Clone Wars series. And maybe a EU novel/comic book or two...maybe. And maybe the occasional Star Wars reference book series, ie. Encyclopedia, Art of..., etc.

A rather modest involvement if you ask me, considering that Star Wars is his "baby".

Now compare that to what say Gene Roddenberry, or for that matter Brannon and Braga had with 28 seasons of Star Trek TV. And some say the latter ran the franchise into the ground.

The only thing that Lucas could be really blamed for with his continued involvement in his franchise is just his wish that canon remain somewhat pliable. Unlike let's say the, ahem, the Terminator franchise. ;)

I think I'm going to wait a few years for the re-imagined series.

I guess that's where I stand. Currently the only two Star Wars bits of media I follow regularly are the KOTOR and Legacy series because they're not in eras that have been revisted over (and over). I'm not particularly against it, I'm just not eager to watch it.

I'm gonna be a fanboy here and just say it.

Thrawn.

Thrawn is completely awesome. I want to see something with him.

I'll check it out. I didn't see the movie, so I'm not tainted, in that regard. If it's good, I'll keep watching, if not, I'll stop. What I won't do is go online and complain bitterly for months about it if the show doesn't happen to be to my liking.

If there aren't any Remington Steele reruns on, then I might watch it. Big maybe though, it's more geared towards children these days anyways. Even the children couldn't save the box office though.

FLOP?!

My wife and I (who are not bitter fanboys) will be enjoying it.

Being a deluded apologist is much worse because you're partially responsible for the degradation of the franchise.

If by apologist you mean normal person who can enjoy entertainment for what it is and not think about my raped childhood each and every second, then you have it.

I'm going to check it out, I mean why not, I get CN with my cable package it's not like I have to pay extra to see it. Honestly though, I'm a bit more intrigued with The Secret Saturdays cartoon that will also be premeiring (on Friday go figure...).

Nope. Star Wars has been played out in my eyes, both on screen and in novel form, for several years now. No interest in a children's cartoon that focuses on the increasingly annoying prequel era, either. Maybe the live action series, if it ever gets on the ground, and manages to do anything vaguely adult. Big if. Wasn't George Lucas going to get back to small, personal projects like "American Graffiti" and "THX-1138" when Star Wars finished with Episode III?
